Finley Cartwright

Seems to be a few confused about contracts on here.
He can't sign pro-terms until he turns 17, so can in theory be poached any time from now until his 17th birthday, for whatever is decided by tribunal. Unless he rejects pro-terms and he can go at the end of his first year scholar for tribunal.
If he signs pro terms at 17 then he's ours until that contract runs out or is bought. If that contract runs out and we offer him equal or same on all contract renewals until his 23rd birthday(maybe younger?) And he turns us down and goes elsewhere in england we would be due compensation. If we offered him no contract and released him then we'd get nothing. Regardless of anything that happens in his career any move for a fee we would be due a 'development fee', unless we release him.

Any player signed between 16-18 is viewed as developed by that club also.

Cartwright is 17 I believe now, so will he get a new contract?

I was thinking about this as well. Was eligible from 28 Feb to sign a pro contract but we've heard nothing. In comparison, Sonny Finch's was announced on his 17th birthday.
Might be nothing and he has had some injuries but does make you wonder.

I thought Fin and Law McCabe were really highly rated within the academy?

Was hoping at least one of them would step up and solve some of our midfield problems in the next few seasons

Cartwright has had injuries hasn't he. Curtailed his development, can happen at this age

Yes he has been injured - I got his injury mixed up with Sonny Finch on here the other week. But regardless of this I know that the club are still really excited by his potential.
there are clearly a number of exciting youngsters in the U18 age bracket right now. The fact that a number of those lads have been playing at U21 and doing well and the U18s are still 10th out of 26 sides says a lot.

We are really well stocked in CM by the look of it as well. McCabe above and ofc Woolston signing a new contract + AJ Bridge who has been on the bench. Then in the u18s we have Cartwright, James and Hamelberg who have all been involved or on stand by with England.
