Very wary of a resurgent England here.

It'll be interesting to see how our bowling attack deal with a very confident England batting line up - and vice versa. No Boult, Henry & Jamieson for the first test is going to be telling.

Likely 11s:

New Zealand: Tom Latham, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell (wk), Michael Bracewell, Tim Southee (captain), Neil Wagner, Jacob Duffy, Blair Tickner.

England: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (captain), Ben Foakes (wk), Stuart Broad, Ollie Robinson, Jack Leach, Jimmy Anderson.
 
Didn't realise Boult, Henry and Jamieson were out, that gives England the edge for me (just).

In normal times looking at the rankings I'd probably be happy with a tied series but these are far from normal times under Baz. Should be a good one although I doubt I'll see much of it.

He hasn't actually retired from tests. He has given up his central contract so he can play any franchise cricket he wants. He has made himself available when not playing T20 cricket round, even made himself available this test but New Zealand decided they don't want to keep chopping and changing the team.
 
Few names in NZ side I’m not familiar with and remember Michael Bracewell’s bowling being very friendly last summer. Fancy us to win this comfortably. Good warm up for the Ashes. Wood isn’t in the squad is he, assume him and Archer are being saved for the summer?
 
Broad and Anderson need 5 wickets between them to become the greatest test bowling partnership in history.

997 test wickets between them. They are currently behind 1001 McGrath and Warne. That's some partnership to overtake 👌

Amazing to think they have been England's first choice strike paring since 2008. Its hard to imagine us without them.
 
Yes I think this will be a 2-0 victory to England tbh. I do worry that we have nobody in the pipeline to replace those that have finished.

Plus England on the rise now. Like all sport it’s cyclycle and I think we might have had our time.

They were looking at Boult but decided to go with central contract players which is fair enough. Just need to find some new bowlers, they are out there.

The pitches here will be pretty green and don’t normally take spin. Brace well can hold an end up and is a decent bat, hence his selection over our other spinners.
 
Yes. Here. Forecast rain all day but amazingly sunshine unbridled until 5pm and the black clouds circling MM peninsula have stayed away. Bit chilly though now.
