Football Focus Struggling!!!

Football Focus is in its 49th year, and has now lost over a third of its viewing figures, from 849,000 in 2019 down to 564.000 last month.
The dramatic fall, coincides with its new direction of Alex Scott becoming its new presenter.
I'm not surprised by this, I stopped watching it years ago, the BBC are playing the woke card, with Alex Scott ticking all the boxes, with only one problem! she is a very poor TV presenter.
The BBC are now looking at reversing the trend, the problem they have now, if they replace Alex, history could repeat itself, and they could be accused of discrimination.
The truth is it's not discrimination, it's because, Football Focus, Match of the Day, Sky Sports Football, Sky Sports News, Question of Sport etc, has a larger male fanbase, and if shows continue to go down the woke route, then TV ratings for these sports shows will eventually plumet, as male audiences will continue not to watch.

The comments I'm making, are not meant to be offensive, however the viewing ratings speak for themselves.

TV producers should not try and fix things that are not broken in the first place!

I think viewing figures are down because loads of people get the sort of content that they used to get from football focus online instead.

I haven't watched FF for at least 10 years and probably lots longer than that.

Exactly this.

Footy focus and motd were the only places you could catch some match highlights years ago. Now I can just look at them on my phone whenever I want

Probably not Alex Scott, there's a lot more competition, TV and online, I never watch it as its not our division.

Plus the likes of towns and teams like Brentford, Luton, Bournemouth and Burnley may be a contributing factor. Not well supported.

Haven't watched it for years. Used to find they tried to make each report shallow enough that fans of other clubs would be able to follow them, but it just made it really boring.

What used to really boil my **** was that the first episode of the year would be on the opening weekend of the Football League, a full week before the Premier League kicks off, and yet they'd still use it as a PL preview instead of giving other clubs some airtime.

Bring back Standing Room Only.

It was good when Sam Leitch presented it, never missed it., or "On The Ball".
Never enjoyed any of the contrived Sky stuff, although I watched it a few times.

The problem Football Focus has is it can’t go into loads of detail. Sky Sports start coverage about midday and go until the 3pm kick off. They get chance to talk about all games and discuss loads on the glamour teams.

I like Alex Scott but agree she isn’t the most natural presenter. The likes of Gaby Logan and Claire Balding are so much better. They won’t present football though of course.

Sky Sports and TNT have got the better female presenters too which makes it more difficult for Football Focus. The BBC should go get Laura Woods to present it as she is excellent.

The problem is and sky have been effected as well is that they want to clear out the old guard like Phil Thompson Charlie Nicholas etc and replace them with younger versions but sadly most modern players have had any personality media trained out of them since they were young so there all like monosyllabic automatons with the personality of a doorknob.

Haven’t watched it for years. But also wouldn’t watch anything presented by Alex Scott. Nothing to do with anything other than I think she is a poor presenter and her comment rarely gives me new insight. The last time I listened to her she was explaining how afetr a goal was ruled out for offside it was the strikers job to stay onside. For clarity Michael Owen, Rio Ferdinand and Steve mcmanaman get muted or switched off too.

Yeah but that sort of thinking doesn't advance the utterly fake culture war narrative at all.

Maybe Gbeebies could launch a rival football preview show hosted by Lee ' I'm not watching England 'cos they take the knee ' Anderson and Nigel Faridge, wonder what that would look like?
