Football Manager 2024

Really enjoyed it so far - decided to ease myself in with AZ Alkmaar.

Steady/interesting enough league, mint academy and youth recruitment but not one of the "big 3" Dutch clubs so a bit of a challenge too.

For those worrying about the game being too detailed nowadays - like others have said just delegate what you don't enjoy to other staff members. I hired a set piece coach and leave the majority of the training schedule and press conferences to my assistant... Emanuel Pogatetz ;)

I really want to buy it!

However, I'm worried I may drop down the FM rabbit hole again.

I bought FM23 and spent weeks playing it none-stop! I even had remote access at work so I could play it in the background!

The other issue is that I will probably need to replace my laptop to be able to enjoy the game fully. My current Lenovo Yoga is 9 years old It is an i7-4500 with 8gb ram, but not a gaming or graphics device. However, it does everything I need it to do fine.

Affording everything isn't an issue but justifying it to myself is!
is it worth getting a new laptop just to enjoy FM24?

Yes, 100%

I haven't played a new FM game for a few years now. I echo some of the comments that there is too much to do these days and the glory days of 01/02 are not likely to be beaten. I would like to play again though. Roughly how long does it take to do a season? I want to know how long I would need to commit to know whether I even have the time to play.
You can totally tailor it to how you want to play it though. There are so many options to delegate something to your staff. I'm not fussed about all of the media so have all of that done by them. I prefer getting into my tactics and bringing through some wonder kids.

Got beat in the playoff final in my first season… by NORWICH 😤

Went down the loan signings route in the summer and am “smashing the league” in my second season

Lyle Foster - loan from Burnley (goal machine)
Kobbie Mainoo - loan from Man Utd (class alongside Hackney)
Stefan Bajcetic - loan from Liverpool
Harewood-Bells - loan from City - backup to VDB

Greenwood - £1.5m from Leeds - scores loads from LW inside forward

My start mirrored Boros this season. Bottom three after about 10 games. Finally managed to turn it round and slowly progressing up the league.

Bangura is excellent isn't he! Rogers impressive too, probably my best player so far.

Started the save with transfers off so will be offloading a few in Jan.

I think it’s because I play with a high press, but half my team is constantly knackered after about 60 mins.

Thank god for 5 subs per game. Engel has come off the bench 27 times so far this season and started 1 game 😂

I survived my first season in the Prem pretty comfortably in the end.
My transfers are pretty steady
Hannibal for free
Barcola on loan from PSG then 3 wonderkids 😂

However 2 weeks before the season Palace triggered Van Den Berg's £33million release clause 😢 This was gonna be the first season he was gonna be a garunteed starter at center back.
I've made myself feel better by signing an Italian center half from Torino who Kieran Scott reccomended for £25million 😂

A funny side note Woody left to become Charlton manager so I replaced him with Sergio Ramos 😂

If Carlsberg did assistant managers!

I've reverted to type again unfortunately, a 4-1 defeat away to Cambridge in the third round of the cup has left me hanging on by a thread.
