Name the only club in the UK to hold a minutes silence to mark the passing of the witch (Margaret Thatcher) ?

I'll go for:
Where she was MP for
Wherever she was born
Peterborough (Posh)
Reading (Royals)
Some Non league club whose chairman was a big fan...

Wasn't she MP for Finchley for about 40 years?
If they've got a team then I'll go for them, Finchley FC or AFC Finchley or something.
Or maybe it's the Edgeware & Finchley Warriors.

From memory isn’t the answer Wigan Athletic? Because Dave Whelan was an admirers of hers.

I seem to remember there being hell on about it in Wigan at the time.

I've googled it... I was half right, i mean i named half the 92, but i was onto something...

and the right answer is WINGATE AND FINCHLEY FC

Best answer given was Liverpool (made me laugh)
Closest (without googling) was Rofesleg

I can't find any evidence that Wigan or Reading did hold a minutes silence although both owners did try and get the FA to sanction it and were told that the idea may not be greeted with too much silence.

The club is a merger of two teams (Finchley and Wingate). Wingate FC was created in 1946 and was named after General Orde C. Wingate who created the Israeli Army during the Second World War.

St Patricks was a good shout for a club being named after a person, but sadly was ruled out as not in the UK. Also Tottenham have a slight claim, as 'Hotspur' was the nickname of some 13th Century Knight

Anyway I'm going there tonight for the first time and was just doing a bit of research. Although I'm having second thoughts after a read about the Thatcher link
