Forest Signing a CM

Strange how its gone so quiet, at the weekend Bournemouth were supposed to be in 'advanced talks' so you would think a deal would have been done by now - but nothing.

I dont pretend to know how transfers work but, along with the Spence deal, Boro transfers in and out seems to take ages.

Good.

But it's Bournemouth that have allegedly been keeping tabs on them for years, and they're still sniffing.
I can't see Bournemouth stumping up the stupid money to get tav though, Forest are flinging cash around this window so I was a bit concerned they might get close to where we'd enter negotiations.

Plus, it's Bournemouth, not exactly an enticing prospect is it?

They've been much better than us in the last decade.
You've got to go back to 2012/13 to see a season where we finished above Bournemouth and that was when they finished 2nd in League One and we finished 16th in the Championship.

A Premier League side, most importantly, and one that has shown it's capable of bouncing back if relegated again.

The only thing we beat them on is attendances.

I think it would only be loyalty to the club that keeps Tav here if the offer is right.

I still think he will end up at Bournemouth, from the outside they're this small club who play pretty football, on the sunny South coast. He'll jump at the chance to go there for a pay rise and for the chance to play in the PL. I don't see Tav having any loyalty to us really, money talks and they've got more than we have.

they were never in advanced talks. They haven't even bid, just indicated they'd like to bid.

I've said it before, no decent footballer should go and play in front of 9,000 fans at that crappy ground in a non-footballing town. They'll be back in the champo next season, and they are one bad transfer window away from a decade in League One.

he's been with the club a decade, of course he will have some loyalty, yes the payrise will be nice, but it won't last will it, they'll come down. Now if Everton or Southampton or some other established prem side showed interest, it would be different. But not Bournemouth, he isn't daft, he knows they're an incidental club.

there were also quite a number of reports dismissing the idea that there were any "advanced talks" so i don't think it's taking ages i suspect it's just not going anywhere unless further offers come in
Personally i doin't think anything will happen on that front, i'd imagine our valuation is probably higher than Bournemouth's.

Bournemouth is a lovely area, it's not a football area though. I think a move there makes more sense at the back end of a career, maybe when you have a family.

Just my opinion but as a young player I'm sure I would be more excited by playing for Forest than B'mouth.
Absolutely, i'm sure their fans would disagree of course, but i don't see them as a "proper" club like us, Forest etc.

The payrise will last, thats how contracts work.

Why has Lingard gone to Forest over West Ham, for money that's why. Even if its for a season, then he has a release clause or whatever he would be daft to stay here for a year and turn Bournemouth down.

players do consider location, family, friends etc though. The question would be whether Bournemouth and their offer would swing that balance, bearing in mind the clubs could swap places and financial status within a year or so. More importantly however Bournemouth would have to stick in an acceptable offer, and things seem to have gone quiet on that front.

I'm pretty sure B'mouth will only be offering a contract with a relegation wage drop clause so the payrise will probably not last.

relegation clauses don't keep you at that significantly higher level. He might get 30k for a year then back to champo wages.

He's a talented player, he wants to look for a way to get consistent prem football, not just one season.

the older fans know that they are traditionally a lower league club and that could return. There is an underbelly of youngsters that think that prem league is their place....they're deluded. They simply don't have the fans or infrastructure to compete. They've heavily lost money for the last 4 seasons, and almost certainly 5 including the one just finished. circa 140m in just 4-5 seasons. Without prem football they are in serious trouble, moreso than us, because their revenue in the in the prem is so low. They need the prem just to keep the wolves from teh door, and can't really invest to keep at that level.

It may be more than he's on now & with a relegation clause, however it would also shackle him to the club for 4-5 years & potential of them demanding huge prohibitive transfer fee.
