Middlesbrough leapfrogged Watford to move into third position in the Championship as they claimed a comfortable 2-0 win over the Hornets at the Riverside. First-half goals from Chuba Akpom and Marcus Forss enabled Boro to bounce back in impressive fashion after last weekend’s north-east derby defeat by Sunderland. Michael Carrick’s side were dominant throughout, with January signing Cameron Archer impressing on his first start for the club.

I don't think he had a good game against Brizzle but that was I think because he was bested by their left back (Da Silva IIRC) and with the lad Bell in front of him we struggled down that flank. We improved with McGree on. But that is unusual, I like the guy I think he has a lot of potential and as others have said he has the work ethic that as fans we think ALL players should have.

In the previous 10 championship seasons(not including the 16/17 Prem season) our average top league scorer is 12.2 goals. Forss is on 10 league goals so he is only 2 goals away from what would of normally been our average top scorer.

Comparing Forss with McGree or Ramsey is like comparing apples and oranges. They’re completely different types of player but give Carrick different options.

I’m a huge fan of all 3. Ramsey is still only 20 year old and a bit raw. He has blown hot and cold but he’ll get better (probably with a different club unless we can loan him again next season).

McGree is very much a floating number 10 but takes up one of the wide positions as nobody is taking that role off Chuba.

Forss is more of a workhorse / runner who is much more direct and hurts teams on the break.

For me it’s horses for courses. In tighter games when sides sit deep and give us less room, I prefer McGree and Ramseys trickery and creativity as they’ll give us the best chance of unlocking defences.

Forss is a great option for sides that play a higher line and leave room to exploit in behind. He’s brilliant at making those runs between full back and centre back. In games where it’s all clicked with Forss, Chuba and Archer (Watford springs to mind) we were frightening on the break at times.

Forss is also a great bench option against tiring sides.

But back to the OP. I’ve only have one thing to say. In the style of Frank. “Arrr love Marcus Forss, me!”

Forss, McGree, Ramsay all have pros and cons but are excellent players at this level.

Forss is clearly the best finisher, is the hardest working and the most physically strong. But lacks a trick to beat a man or a creative vision.

McGree has the vision, touch and movement, maybe lacks a burst of pace to move on a level and isn’t the greatest finisher

Ramsay, superb ball carrier, good pace, created and scored, but maybe doesn’t do it going the other way and over does the dribble sometimes giving the ball away cheap.

They are all net positive and I think it’s great that the they all have different strengths as no back four at this level can really contain all their strengths.

Pops up with a goal and works hard in forwards areas but switches off massively defensively and I don’t think he has much quality. He has useful attributes but I’d like to think he won’t be in the starting line up a great deal next season.

I’m a fan of Forrs and am surprised how often he is prepared to try and beat his man. He’s a really positive player and 10 goals from where he plays is a really good haul. Been a very good buy.

Big fan of Ramsey and McGree too. Ramsey though, I’d break the bank for. I think he’s a proper star in the making and has the lot, attacking wise. Whatever league we are in next season, I hope we loan/buy him. Even when he’s having a quiet game, like Monday, two moments of real quality result in goals. He’s going to be top class.

I can understand the OP from some recent performances, but I like Forss. A bit like Watmore but is able to play longer. Might not technically be the best but he leaves it all out on the pitch and pops up with goals.

Easy to forget he's basically a striker being played out of position.

Like Stuani doesn't moan about it, head down and puts a proper shift in for the team.

If Archer doesn't play, I'd rather see Forss up front than Crooks. Hopefully all the game time spent out wide will do his all round game a world of good and make him a better centre forward.
