Fry for 15 million

Mart fair point but I see the sales of Tav ( and potentially Fry) weakening us. Our transfer biz to date is a little sketchy- Giles - massive success. Keeper? Jury out as far a I am concerned. Lenihan? Prone to a Rick or two. Think Mowett will prove to be a great acquisition. The 2 strikers? Mmmm
Championship footballers are prone to 'a rick or two', see McNair and Fry last season for instance.

If it's Everton we may get decent money and spent wisely could prove the side altogether.

Dont make me laugh. £15m for a CH who can't get into a team at that are sitting near the bottom of the championship without a win in 4 games. And I've seen canal boats that are faster and more agile than the free transfer that gets the nod in front of him.

I think the issue Wilder has with Fry is his distribution which I understand to some degree but surely the most important attribute of a centre half is the ability to defend. Fry imo is the best defender at the club and from what I've seen so far is superior to Lenihan. To be fair to Lenihan, we got him on a free and we're looking at £15m for Fry.
If Fry cannot play Wilder's prefered system then it's better to find a a defender who can. YEs Fry is a good defender, but he isn't a good passer, isn't good at driving with the ball. Wilder wants 11 footballers. If Fry is a victim of that, then so be it.

I’m just not sure he is Wilders cup of tea. Maybe not aggressive enough. He’s certainly still prone to be bullied every now and then.
Are any of our defenders aggressive? Certainly don’t see Lenihan as aggressive and he went out an brought him here. I think it’s more Wilders obsession with ball playing defenders who can bring the ball out of defence. It may be good to watch but i think we’re going to have to score plenty as we’ll be letting a lot more goals in as a consequence

It's Everton they've spent more money on worse players

I like Fry but he still hasn’t grown into the bullying, leading championship defended that he ought to be by now. He has most definitely had his moments where he’s shone e.g. Spurs and United in the cup, but it hasn’t been consistent enough for me. He’s also rarely shown it when it comes to attacking set pieces.

Fry is the best centre back we’ve had in years. Personally I’d be building my team around him at the back - we would be mad to let him go without being absolutely certain of getting Greaves or another top replacement first
Greaves just signed a 4 year contract extension at Hull, so it might be Marco Bolenhio for the rest of the season

Aye but the lads that can’t get a game one has already gone to the prem and other is linked to one 😉

They’ve just signed tarkowski and Coady and also have Keane and Mina. He won’t get anywhere near there team.
Probably agree. They have Holgate and Godfrey as well so can't see why they'd sign him but they have just lost Godfrey and Mina to injury. Coady was brought in to cover those injuries already though. 4 CBs to cover 3 positions means it is a possibility. I wouldn't expect him to get much game time of he did sign. He'll be backup.

Like when Gibson went to Burnley, they had two far better centre backs in Tarkowski and Mee. He was never going to be first choice.

I always remember watching Huth shortly before he left. If he felt we were under pressure he'd happily knock it out for a throw and start re-organising.
