Fry injury MFC Twitter

Seconds before contact and this is the view the ref and linesman had.

HIGHLIGHTS_ Boro 0 Blackburn Rovers 1 _ Middlesbrough FC-1.jpg

Whether the Blackburn player meant it or not the rules are crystal clear that it was dangerous play that should have resulted in a penalty and sending off.

How on earth can the linesman and referee not have seen the incident and come to any other conclusion?

Its time referees were made accountable. I'm not saying they should be put in front of TV crews or journalists but someone from the Referees body should be coming out and explaining why such a decision was made by this referee. Clearly that can't happen every week for every decision but for real howlers like this they should have to be held to account.

I would like to see a post match press conference with the manager of each team and the ref, to answer questions from the media, and each other. A bit like the top 3 drivers in F1 at the post race presser.

The managers woudl have to behave and be respectful mind.

"so, why didnt you give that foul as a red card and award the pelanty" (asked my Maddo)

It will NEVER happen though, as the league can never admit there ref's have made a mistake, because it opens them up to criticism.

That will never happen but there's no reason why a spokesman couldn't be rolled out on the day after the game to explain why the referee made the decision he did.
