Fuming, more mask rubbish

Was she wearing the fake lanyard in the shop? If so, why was she refused service? If she was wearing it, she must have been refused because it was called out as fake - so nothing would be paid to her. If she wasn’t wearing it, why not? Doesn’t make sense. Far too many things do not add up in this story and, as others have said, seems as fake as the lanyard.

Yeah, because to earn internet points is a large part of my life. I'm relaying what was told to me by my wife, I don't know the whole story, but got enough to be furious about it. I don't give a flying fig if you believe it or not.

Yeah and it hasn't been through the courts that quickly either with the massive backlog they've got to work through.

She's full of ****. There is no money.
Go back and read my post. I said it didn't go to court, I said she wrote a letter and received a compensatory response. I have no reason to disbelieve her, its the sort of thing that I can imagine happening to her. She's an anti-vax, homeopathic, David Ike nutjob, who somehow seems to always land sunny side up.

No, I’m not saying your story is fake. I meant hers. And I fully understand and agree with your being so annoyed with her!
Edit: just re-read that, and I see now that it is my disbelieving her story that has annoyed you. Sorry that annoyed you but I felt there were too many questions unanswered in the tale. But only you know the circumstances and the people involved, so I would certainly not want to contradict your understanding of it all. Enjoy your figs!

What a despicable thing to do. I hope karma catches up with her.

Unfortunately, she isn’t alone in behaving like this. Seems like it’s parts of the culture of a certain element of our society these days.

Well heaven forbid your sister-in-law might scrounge 58 grand for wallpaper or to pay for a nanny.

Companies, don't give 3k out on the strengh of a customer letter.
That sort of money would 100% involve a solicitor. Mask or no mask a coffee shop, pub or any shop for that matter, the management have the right to refuse admission and don't have to give a reason. It would be at most a voucher as a goodwill gesture.

Mrs H's aunt is the same. Refuses to have a mobile phone because of the 'rays' they emit that cause brain cancer. Perhaps they are the same person?

That said, perhaps she is so full of shyte she is making the whole thing up, or at least exaggerating somewhat. The story might have got distorted along the line too (Chinese whispers).

Which is all good news for you and your blood pressure.

I'd be very surprised that a company would admit something like and compensate your sister in such a quick space of time without a court hearing. £3000 is a lot of a money, even to the likes of Costa, Cafe Nero and Starbuck's to be throwing around without a full investigation.

Who knows.

BTW, my wife's cousin, not my sister.

I would just leave things be, not worth the family fallout (the more you stir mud the dirtier it gets). Although there will be a few grains of truth to her story some things maybe embellished the same may be said for other stories she has told, which is why you think she always lands sunny side up. I would put it down to attention seeking .

I think you should file this under 'stuff that didn't happen'. I am not accusing the OP of lying rather that he has been lied to.
