Fury vs Ngannou

Actually power of punches is a factor when scoring boxing. Landing more punches in a round doesn't automatically win the round. Judges also looking at who is controlling the fight, combinations rather than single shots, defensive work.

Counter punches and power punches such as hooks and straight shots will score more favourably than just flicking a jab out which predominantly what Fury did.

I've seen that screenshot of the amount of punches Fury landed v Ngannou and it only tells part of the story. It doesn't tell you the round distribution for instance. Fury could have out landed him heavily in 2 or 3 rounds but been outlanded in the other 7 rounds.
Ye I hate the cumulative stat, I’d prefer to see a round by round breakdown

Boxing is a joke and needs a huge clean up.

One world title belt for each weight division.
Fighters should be made to fight and not dodge opponent otherwise lose their belt.
No more internet or social media personalities/influencers talking their way into fights.

Such changes would be a huge step forward.

Fury struggled massively with a guy that he couldn't just man handle & ended up throwing elbows in frustrations. Ngannou showed him up & deserved the win, but we all know fine well he was never going to get a decision. Little by little the mask is slipping & the shine is wearing off.

I didn't watch the fight, I dont agree with cross overs and don't agree with sport in Saudi anyway.
But people really got it in for fury, let's face it he probably was fighting at about 40 % if that. Usyk will be very confident now just like AJ was after usyk chisora.
Expect a completely different fury against usyk ( if it ever happens).
Also AJ and Eddie hearn are cocks too.

I don’t think he did enough to win. Lennox who is no fan of fury said the same.

He did however utterly over perform and dragged furys performance levels down, he showed a path for how a more experienced and competent boxer can beat fury

Yes, I seen what Lennox said and can understand his point, but it wasn’t a world championship fight. There was no belt on the line even though they paraded it around. Apparently if he did lose it wouldn’t have even counted on his record anyway.

Compare that to Mayweathers crossover fights or whatever you want to call them. He absolutely schooled everyone one of them as he is/was the real deal.

Well exactly, styles makes fights. So to truly be classed as the best of a generation you need to be them all & be undisputed. Which he isn’t that keen on.

Fury is slowly down, he’s not as agile as he used to be or as awkward. He keeps getting caught and put down. The constant ballooning in weight is never good either. Maybe that’s why he’s tried to change his style.

The lineal title was on the line.To win that, to beat the man, that beat the man, that beat Ali. You gotta unquestionably win.

I agree entirely that Fury was poor, and really should have outboxed him, to not do so is a failure, while still winning the fight by the rules of the sport.

I think Fury has been little lucky, could easily have been counted out in 2 earlier fights, and stopped with a cut before now. He's managed to avoid most of the big hitters, he got in with Wilder because he was desperate to important again. Realised just how poor a boxer Wilder is, and got back in twice more because he realised he was levels above Wilder, but then most people are. As long as you have the head movement to avoid/ride Wilder's bombs then Wilder has no chance against a good boxer. He beat Klitschko, what 8 years? He was superb that day and it's still his greatest performance, to perplex a hall of famer so completely.

What the weekend told me is that Fury's heart isn't in the training, just because it's on paper an easier fight that shouldn't mean you come in so physically ill prepared. Fury unprepared will lose soon enough if he gets in the ring with anyone hungry enough

He did a full 12 week training camp for it so I don’t think he was at 40%. He maybe was over confident though and believed his own hype. He talks enough tripe so he’s got to believe some of it.

Good interview and insight this. Shane is the most honest and articulate of all the Fury’s.

One things clear for me, Tyson needs to sideline John Fury - he shouldn’t be anywhere near the training camp or pressers for the Usyk fight.

Then why has his record now changed to 34 wins?

And the lineal title being on the line is actually quite a big deal, at least to Tyson Fury.

Oh and the belt they paraded around was the newly created WBC Riyadh Belt. Yes, they created a new belt just for Saudi Arabia. Yes, Fury now holds it, along with The Ring title belt. And no, nobody cares.

Totally agree, I can see him retiring again or at least after the Usyk fight(s). Usyk will be well up for that and the usual mind games just won’t work on him, he’s a wild himself!

I’m not sure, it was on one of Carl Foch’s podcasts. Oh well if the wins on there then it would have.

Yeah he is always banging on about it.

Exactly, pointless. There should just be one belt.

Usyk is such a great character, seems a great mix of absolute awareness of his greatness with personal humbleness. I don't think I've ever seen him lose his cool in or out the ring, he's not just a great boxer but psychologically he's an absolute beast too.

I wouldn't know I watched zero of the build up etc, just the posts I've read he was terrible. Just saying he's gonna be totally different for usyk, if he isn't then it's good night isn't it.

My take on this ,Fury underestimated Ngannuo, who in turn fought the perfect fight by holding the centre of the ring and counterpunching Fury , forcing Fury to try and attack .
If Fury’s heart is still in the game ,and the Uysk fight goes ahead ,it’s going to be a totally different fight and one I believe Fury wins .
One things for sure Ngannuo is going to be a hard nights work for any Top 10 heavyweight, purely down to his strength and punching power and resilience .
Uysk for all his skills does not compare to Ngannuo in these departments .

Usyk maybe doesn't have the size of Ngannou, but he certainly has far greater boxing IQ & ring craft. Plus, he always does well against taller opponents.
