Gary Lineker being reined in

Agree with some of that.

I think the insurmountable issue in this was the solidarity shown by Linekers colleagues, which took them by surprise and put them in a place they couldn't win from.

The active and influential Conservative's in the senior bbc positions will still be so and will still push the right wing agenda, regardless of who is in government.

It's an issue that reaches far beyond the bbc, its about the establishment looking after themselves and runs through nearly all corporations and big businesses.
Yeah, sure, and it's good they've now realised where the real power is, and that's its viewers and presenters. BBC aren't the only news source, and people are now more aware of who has been snuck in where. It might even end up in the right-leaning guys leaving, or being shown the door in a year and a half.

BBC tried to attack a lone pawn, but gave no thought to the army of pieces on the pawn's side, which pose it much more of a problem. They tried to attack when they were in a terrible position and should have been concentrating solely on defence. Everyone working there knows the BBC has no future peddling far-right crap, or pandering to it, as the clock is ticking on that.

The following is taken from the article you've posted: It is understood the corporation will apologise to the Match Of The Day presenter.

Why does the BBC feel the need to apologise to Gary Lineker, are they admitting they have over reacted and pandered to their Tory paymaster or are they in fear of not being able to show the FA Cup quarter finals.

I would rather have seen one or two step down but I don't think the Beeb apologising will be the last we hear of it.
I suspect they are admitting they’ve applied a vague rule, unfairly and disproportionately to him.

I doubt they’ll admit with honesty the reason they did it, which is of course their own political bias.

However what this whole sort episode has done is expose the bias of the bbc executive

I have mixed feeling about the news, it's great that he's returning and even better that the BBC will apologise to him, but I suspect the review will see free speech curtailed and redirect all be back here with Lineker again, but with a different outcome.
I’m not sure it will. If they go for him and him alone once again then it’ll end up in court and the bbc will lose. They created a precedent of bias to him.

They haven’t apologised to him directly, they have apologised to the public. If I was him I’d carry on until they change the guidelines ,as they obviously don’t have a leg to stand on at the moment.
I wouldn’t be so sure of that. His lawyers will have ensured a full written apology was provided. It will be needed in case they try something again.

If Labour win it wouldn’t be surprised if there was some at the top “resigned”
with heavy watertight NDA’s attached 😉
Better still, politician free independent BBC

Gary will be in front of the camera`s on Saturday, commenting on the games an stuff - with Wrighty an Shearer.........effectively sticking the V up to the BBC an the Tories - with the angry rabble shouting racist comments and silly made-up words at the tele.
Gary, Wrighty an Shearer will have the right to sit there looking smug ....and smile all the way through.
(y)
Hope he says "Thanks for watching everyone. You will be seeing us again next Saturday":D

Gary's tweet around 1 hour ago,

'however difficult the last few days have been, it simply doesn’t compare to having to flee your home from persecution or war to seek refuge in a land far away. It’s heartwarming to have seen the empathy towards their plight from so many of you.'

the toryreich defeated, now we move on to Attenborough.
