Sky news saying the BBC have apologised directly to him.Not seeing any apology from the BBC to Gary Lineker in anything released so far.
Yeah, sure, and it's good they've now realised where the real power is, and that's its viewers and presenters. BBC aren't the only news source, and people are now more aware of who has been snuck in where. It might even end up in the right-leaning guys leaving, or being shown the door in a year and a half.Agree with some of that.
I think the insurmountable issue in this was the solidarity shown by Linekers colleagues, which took them by surprise and put them in a place they couldn't win from.
The active and influential Conservative's in the senior bbc positions will still be so and will still push the right wing agenda, regardless of who is in government.
It's an issue that reaches far beyond the bbc, its about the establishment looking after themselves and runs through nearly all corporations and big businesses.
When are they going to learn that everyone's had enough of the Tories being corrupt?Alastair Campbell tweeting that he's hearing the Tories are pressing to have the Chair they installed - Richard Sharpe, he who helped arrange Bozo's dodgy 800K loan - chair the BBC inquiry.
They didn't want to U-turn, and it was not by choice, the public and presenters tied a massive chain around the wheels and they pulled it around with a tank. Can we class this as another Tory U-turn?
I suspect they are admitting they’ve applied a vague rule, unfairly and disproportionately to him.The following is taken from the article you've posted: It is understood the corporation will apologise to the Match Of The Day presenter.
Why does the BBC feel the need to apologise to Gary Lineker, are they admitting they have over reacted and pandered to their Tory paymaster or are they in fear of not being able to show the FA Cup quarter finals.
I would rather have seen one or two step down but I don't think the Beeb apologising will be the last we hear of it.
I’m not sure it will. If they go for him and him alone once again then it’ll end up in court and the bbc will lose. They created a precedent of bias to him.I have mixed feeling about the news, it's great that he's returning and even better that the BBC will apologise to him, but I suspect the review will see free speech curtailed and redirect all be back here with Lineker again, but with a different outcome.
I wouldn’t be so sure of that. His lawyers will have ensured a full written apology was provided. It will be needed in case they try something again. They haven’t apologised to him directly, they have apologised to the public. If I was him I’d carry on until they change the guidelines ,as they obviously don’t have a leg to stand on at the moment.
Well isn’t this just terrible.. you can say what you want about asylum seekers… but dare to stand up for an old man who accidentally punched his wife in the face as a one off and you have to suffer the condequences!
