General Election - Thursday June 8th 2023

My old bass player said that when he first heard that song he thought that it was called 'Where the Sheets Have No Name' and that he thought that Bonio was singing it directly to him, because his sheets didn't have any names either.
Was this for a band?

I hope you’re right Newy, Labours campaign slogan could be ‘make Britain fair again’. When the Tories are on the receiving end of a humbling defeat the gammons amongst us will turn into jerky.

fair would be pretty radical and therefore leftist, wokeish, snowflakedom..

I think they are going for a ‘Better Britain’ nothing crazy or unachievable or out there.. just better.. even if it’s just a bit better.

To appeal to the Left out Labour supporters, the let down Lib Dems and the Currently Regretting voting Conservatives.

Lots of dyed in the wool Conservatives are not happy with how the party is being run and this includes many of their own MPs..

My guess is that there will be be an election next May - no advanatage to the Tories calling an election in June - Rishi will want more time in the job.

I have feeling the SNP vote will drop further if another 12 months pass ansd the economy will look a bit better in 2024.

No, newy. I just like having a bass player around in the house. They attract flies and dust and you can just take them outside and shake all of that stuff off them. Saves you having to use the vacuum cleaner or fly spray.
I used to have a bass player, but "somebody" put too many pineapple Mivvis in him. He fell over and his arms dropped off.

I think most people had a bass player at one time. Mine used to sing ‘don’t worry be happy’

The funny thing is, the human body adapts. His legs slowly started turning into arms. He was doing quite well until his head popped off back in 2005.

Don't let anyone put too many pineapple Mivvis in you.

No.. some tory meff in the pub.
Was this Meff tapped in to the Cabinet? I think they will hang on to January 2025. No chance the economy recovers next year to make any difference. The longer they can stretch it out the more they hope desperately we forget Johnson and Truss.

I think unlikely they’ll wait for the dead of winter, when people are even more fed up than usual.

I think May 2024 too.

‘High Street’
That’s the word on the street..

The Conservatives
Looking for a bit of post Coronation feel good factor with Rishi Sunak still polling higher than Starmer. He will be ‘Delivering For You’ 2% interest rates leading up to the election, they are expected to take a hit but it’s very much damage limitation with some MPs being readied to move to safer seats.
Big on immigration control, mathematics in schools

SNP are taking a hit with Labour and Conservative looking to take up the slack equally.

The Labour Party
‘Building a Better Britain’ very much looking to swallow up the centre ground and the fence sitters. Pure magnolia is the order of the day. Appealing to Lib Dems more than the Greens.. five missions delivered by the big voices in the party including Wes Streeting and Yvette Cooper.

The Liberal Democrats
‘For a Fair Deal’ apparently looking to take on the Conservatives directly on their turf by taping into voter anger over sewerage.. dead in the water, a dozen seats if they’re lucky.

The Green Party
‘For a fairer greener country’ open to the idea of Jeremy Corbyn joining the eco-socialists and doubling their presence in the House of Commons.

Reform UK
‘Reform is Essential’
‘Let’s make Britain Great’
Pints and Pies populist guff aimed at former Red Wall seats.. doing the Lib Dems job of splitting the vote.
Let’s get this settled.
The date will be 6th May 2023. This is definite.
And the name of the street is Coronation Street. All are invited. Charles and Camilla will be there.

They won’t go when they are so far behind in the polls and May next year won’t make a blind bit of difference to them. Tend to agree with the notion they will hang on to the very bitter end. Johnson won in the dead of winter. Maybe that’s what the current lot will think.

I think there’s more to it than that. The SNP are are struggling and there’s a lot of discontent within the Conservative party. It’s a case of striking whilst the iron is hot

1. wanting to take out the SNP
2. moving certain MPs out of the Conservatives
3. not allowing Labour to change out Keir
4. lots of projects are starting in May and they will be at their most visible
5. winter is going to be tough will bills soaring and the nhs under strain

they know they are going to lose numbers, some want out.. the boffins are wanting to go early, the party want to clear the decks.

Johnson was always expected to win. Sunak isn’t.

The Gammons vs The Snowflakes.. what a load of tosh. Whatever the result of the next election, whenever it is.. hopefully we can stop with all the J-Lo talk, text speak and vvanky nicknames.
