Hmmm ................... Leyton Orient had to forfeit a league cup game versus Spurs for the same reasons.

Anyone remember we couldn't get a team out once due to a 'virus' going through the team.

PL is as bent as a nine bob note.

Villa v Newcastle off because of Covid cases

Newcastle's game at Aston Villa on Friday is postponed following a significant increase in Covid-19 cases at the Magpies' training ground.

I guess they would mitigate this through the fact that there is plenty of opportunity to replay the Villa Newcastle game.

This situation is also completely different to the one we found ourselves in vs Blackburn in 1997. We weren't in the middle of a global pandemic for a kick off.
 
Much as I like to kick the "8th biggest club in the Galaxy" it is a completely different scenario to our three point fiasco.

Yes, due to safety concerns with the approaches to the ground. But I remember it all suddenly melted and steam was rising from the A66 on the day it should have been played, much to the chagrin of our northern neighbours. :D Think we won the rearranged fixture 1 - 0 with Geremie scoring. Distinctly remember me Mark Page playing 'Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow ........' at the end of the game.:LOL:

Edit: Thanks for reminding me of this just sent a text to a lad I know in Hebburn questioning their motives and saying we'd only postpone in the case of heavy snow. His reply? ........ "F**k off you cheating b*****ds". Some things live long in the memory. :giggle:
