That’s always a good indicator when you canvass the supporters views of the players club
We needed someone like because ayling there isn’t going to work
The odd game we may get away with but today I’m expecting a defeat because of the defensive disruption and because of the latte lath shenanigans will of unsettled the players psychologically for me.

But Carricks comments yesterday about howson being that he was really pushing Carrick for a return today 🤷‍♂️

I really like howson at centre back, he carries the ball out and offers us another dimension

I was surprised at carrick because he doesn’t normally give anything away on injuries etc but he must be feeling the pressure to share as much as he did…

He’s 36, he’ll give it a go because he’s a pro and never let himself down, but he isn’t a cb and it would be suicide to play him as anything but a last resort there.

Yeah, he's currently 6th choice centre-back with Ayling 7th choice. Not a bad option when 4 other centre backs are out. Howson is probably also 4th choice right back since Dijksteel has had a bit of a redemption arc.

It's a bit of a shame for Dijksteel that he'll lose his place to Ayling because he has had his best spell in 2 years and does offer something a little different at right back. He's not in the same league as Ayling but if he can keep his form up when called on, he ought to get a decent move out of it.

Maybe it's just me but I think Clarke and Howson might be the best CB pairing we have within the club, even when all are fit.

Howson has looked fantastic as that Southgate type CB whenever he has played there, reading the game and picking up the peices.

Can’t see that myself. Howson hasn’t got the pace, strength or height. If he plays every week, he’ll do ok, but the better teams will target him
 
Good signing. Played for Ipswich against Hull at the back end of last season and didn't give Delap any rope at all.
