Good Interview with Carrick in the website

He didn’t say anything any other manager we’ve ever appointed hasn’t said, except the part that he played for the club and when he was 9, which was obviously to win us over.

Problem is the fella that was interviewing him was effectively telling him what to say.
What else did you want him to say? FFS

I like the bit where he talked about becoming a manager - does he not realise what he signed up for :) joking aside though he seems like a good guy, hopefully he can turn things around for this team!

I thought I’d give it a listen to try and rekindle my enthusiasm.

I managed about 30 seconds.

Hope he does well though.

Correct scrug....journos now man....rhey ask closed questions....suggested answer questions and make the whole interview almost pointless..
No thought applied
Love Michael...looking forward to the next few seasons

I’ve just watched it in full. Seems a very genuine and positive bloke, have to admit I don’t think I’ve ever listened to him speak before, so wasn’t sure what to expect.

The stuff about knowing what north east fans are about is cliche, but at least this comes from personal experience and doesn’t sound patronising like it did from Pulis, Wilder etc.

Comes across well but fairly identikit. Not many hardball questions in there, ha.

Sounds like he's more of a motivator/man manager than tactician to me? Lots of mentions of hard work and enjoying it etc

He nearly slipped up too and said we want to be "in the...(playoffs?)" Before settling for "higher up the league". I actually think tempering expectations wouldn't be a bad move at this stage.

I was hoping that they would ask him what caused the delay? What hurdles had to be overcome before he took the job.
Ha ha, not a chance they'd ask that.

I think tomorrow's presser will be far more revealing, given its not the clubs media team seeing the questions.

Exactly! It's a regular style of interviewing which tells the listener nothing. Supply the answer in the question. Just stop doing it.

Good luck to Carrick (and Woodgate). He'll need some of that with our midfield.

Was he meant to talk about his love of parmos and going across the transporter bridge as a kid ffs
He couldn't have come across as any happier to be here,he was beaming from ear to ear and I'm definitely looking forward to having him as our manager.
The big hope is Phelan follows him in and the big one is that he's backed in January

Players will respect him because of what he's gone in the game, but he is inexperienced, In terms of personality, he seems a really nice fella if maybe a bit 'soft'. But perhaps that's what the squad needs after the intense (and by all accounts arrogant) Wilder.
So much is down to luck. Four of the five games before the World Cup are away, so it's a tough start, but in some senses it can be more pressure playing in front of your own fans when you're not performing. It would be great to start with a win at Preston after the massive disappointment of our last visit there, Hopefully we'll take a few more now he's been appointed and fans have the sense of a fresh start.
Bottom line, his job this season, alas, is about keeping us up. At least he's a midfielder and you'd hope he has a chance of sorting out that area. I'd like to see Luongo given a chance in a 'double pivot with Howson in a 4-2-3-1. We have to protect the defence better and seek to control that area. If we do, hopefully we can climb the table and take the pressure off.

Wilder and Warnock both came across like they were doing us a favour being here. Egos way beyond their capabilities, both of them.

Great to have a more grounded personality in charge again (and someone who has actually achieved more in the game than those two ever did)

Warnock technically did do us a favour :ROFLMAO:

Wilder was just a d**k head.
