Greatest sportsman or woman of all time

I think the Greatest sportsperson has to have demonstrated ability across multiple sports and transcended it too.

I raise you Andrew Freddie Flintoff. World class cricketer and boxer. TV presenter and Radio presenter. MBE.

The guy has completed sport and broadcasting.

I said he probably is, because he probably is? As in complete, by having all the physical attributes that Pele clearly never had (unless he can defy physics or the training and nutrition available at the time)? Have you not seen Ronaldo's physique or physical attributes, as well as his clear footballing ability?

You're showing yourself up here, by being so narrow-minded.

Whatmore? Sorry, but :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
What a crock of crap. I'm on about peak players for their time, why are you comparing a peak player with a champo mid level side player, who has barely done it for a couple of seasons?

If that is your line of thinking, this is a clear waste of time, over and out.

What a joker :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Nobody had the physical attributes that pele had, doctors did extensive tests on him, He was a freak of nature. He had a much larger lung capacity than other athletes, he had much more twitch muscle than other athletes. There were other findings, but stick to your viewpoint Andy.

It wouldn't matter what anyone else said, you don't care, you want to be right so badly you will argue anything.

As I have said enough people who know a damn sight more about football than you do agree with me, Pele is the greatest footballer ever.

Carry on without me you condascending d*ck

Max woosnam
There’s CB Fry, too, who had a similar career with cricket replacing tennis as his main sport and apparently turned down the chance to be King of Albania

Pele wasn't even the greatest Brazilian 😉
If you ever get a chance to read his biography it's well worth it

As does the women’s long jump.
Didin't Flo-Jo have amazing nails as I recall. You always get the impression from Bolt that he could have shaved another half second off the world record if he had really wanted to. Also a really nice guy, at the blocks he would always knuckle bump his kit kid. Whilst all the other runners were getting in the zone, he was smiling and chatting, thinking about what he would have for tea straight after he jogged these incompetents into defeat.

I was lucky enough to witness him breaking the world 100m record easing down in the Bird’s Nest in the 100m Olympic Final. Easing down FFS. It was jaw dropping what he did.

I'll have a look at that Jam. Not big in to biographies unless they cover a subject I am really in to.

Just read his wikipedia page. I have seen the fiorentina goal, I am sure, or it was copied by someone else.

An interesting character on lots of levels from his dad and his drink problem to his lack of interest in proffessional foorball.

I'll look for his autobiography.

Lucky you. That was the most amazing 100 meter run of all time. Even had he not broke the world record, the ease with which he won was stunning. The fact that he broke the world record, easing down because his work was done at the 75 meter line makes it all the more special.

If you are talking about boxing, then Rocky Marciano. Undefeated and won most of them by knock outs.

but his record was full of overmatched fighters and washed up names. That’s why very few rate him as the greatest of all time. Similar to Calzaghe. Not saying they weren’t excellent fighters but there’s huge holes in their record.

I know a lot don’t like Mayweather but his undefeated record is far more impressive when it comes to boxing. He has the record number of wins over current and former world champions, plus spent around 18 years as a world champ, across 5 weight divisions. Like him or not, it’s a hell of a record. Especially when you consider his hands were destroyed for the last 10 years of his career. It’s also a myth that he avoided fighters, he never. He fought many prime world champions and beat them barely losing rounds. People only focus on the last few years of his career and don’t understand how good he was at lower weights early on and how tough he was matched. His first world title fight was within 2 years of turning pro against a very very good fighter in Genaro Hernandez.
