Green.candidate quits Teesside mayor race

Says she doesn't want to split the anti-Tory vote

Houchen might whinge about a supposedly 'grubby deal', lest he forget the deal between the Tories and Brexit Party in 2019 that helped secure the worst government in decades that have decimated public services and waged war against the poor, taking every last bit they can to further feather the nests of the Tories and their donors.

So, Ben, my message to you is simple... GET TO F**K, YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW.

Wonder who the board's 'Green' supporters will vote for now....🤔

Since the deadline for withdrawal will have long passed, as it’s 19 working days before the poll, they could vote for her to register a vote for the party presumably. She will still be on the ballot. All she has effectively done is tell people not to vote for her.

Edit: ignore me I have rocks in my head my maths has gone awry.

She is not on the ballot.

This is week old news and she specifically withdrew just before nominations closed to ensure that nobody was able to replace her.
A woman of integrity who realised the danger of splitting the vote.
Don't let her stand be in vain.

To be fair, it was the BBC that came out with an article today claiming that she'd just withdrawn and was still on the ballot because of how late she'd done so, and had Ben Houchen claiming it was "anti-Teesside" and "anti-democracy" that she'd withdrawn.

It's probably the first time most people had even heard she'd pulled out, it certainly was for me.

They've since corrected their article and removed the reference to the name still being on the ballot.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if it was Houchen and his cronies pushing that narrative, anything to try and sling mud.
