Does ANYONE know when they are starting , they said they would empty the green bins once for people , but have paid but not got new brown bin , neighbour has & its same dimensions as green bin ...but with a sticky on barcode ......is that seriously worth 1.1m on new bins .
Seems a shambles of a system where you pay but have no idea when to put bins out etc . website says nothing , does anyone know how its operating ....because it seems a shambles at minute

Started last week in Redcar & Cleveland.
Some people without a sticker left bins out and they didn't get emptied.

Flyer through the door on Friday said collecting & removing green bins in Marton area tomorrow, Monday..

Check council website for full schedule..

You will get a leaflet through your dorr telling you the last collection of your green bin.

Your new brown bin should be on the website calendar however they do seem to be hit and miss

The brown bin roll out has been a massive **** up.. some people have had no bin yet some have had two delivered

The whole thing has been rushed to get it working where as they should have done another year of free collections and planned this switch over better

Between this and the new black bins they are practically losing 6 months anyway. (Fortnightly collections of general waste are not due to kick in until July

Green waste will collected fortnightly depending where you live- you can log onto your council account and the calendar will tell you the date, the calendar will also tell you the day when your black(general waste) and recycling gets emptied.
If you don't have an account, and you really should if you live in Middlesbrough, you should set one up, it's very simple.

Well yeah, the bin men have to scan the QR code on the sticker.

Half expecting my sticker/bin to get stolen next time it goes out tbh
It's not true that bin staff- we have female waste operatives as well as male, have to scan a QR code, the bin wagons have in vehicle computers which tell them who is due to have a green bin emptied, if green bins appear where there shouldn't be, bin staff can scan the codes and return the bin to the correct house.

Because of governments cuts, the council don't have the staff it used to have, we obviously have waste to collect while this is going on, it would be a simpler task if it was only green waste bins that was changing, but black bins are also changing all at the same time, it will take a while, but no one is not getting their bins emptied because of these changes, if you are or know someone who is, please do contact your local councillors, it's part of what we are here for, or they can simply contact the council direct online or by telephone.

Apologies for using the archaic term "bin men"

I just assumed the QR code was for the waste operative to log qualifying bins so people who haven't subscribed don't get their bin emptied regardless

Ive received my brown bin, no issues but i applied for a larger black bin at the same time. Ive still not heard anything as of yet. Im assuming they are finishing the roll out of brown bins first? Also my calendar states household waste is still weekly collection, when is that changing to fortnightly?

TS8 area. Green bins are being emptied and taken away on Monday, unless you put a note on it saying leave and you can use it for composting.

Yes, the larget black bins will be distributed later this month, and will take about a month so could well be into the end of May.

Any comments on the 1.1m pound contract award to a German company without bids going out to tender? Now a British company are stating they could have delivered the exact same service for £250,000 less. So now they are taking it to court.

Also the contract was awarded to the German company before the public consultation had finished.
It's total nonsense.
A tender did go out and was awarded correctly. Some issue was found that the award wasn't reported as it should have been, but the tender award was correct.

Seems a losing party may well have got themselves mixed up a little, but the the legal department has looked into this and have assured councillors that the correct procedure happened at all times- other than the reporting of the award, which didn't affect the result of the tender.

Do you know why haverton hill recycling centre is still operating a pre-book only system?

I assume it’s a hangover from Covid times but seems unnecessary now. The Stokesley one you can just rock up at now
