Green waste collections

Do you know why haverton hill recycling centre is still operating a pre-book only system?

I assume it’s a hangover from Covid times but seems unnecessary now. The Stokesley one you can just rock up at now
Not sure, but Haverton Hill recycling is almost at the end of it's life, the council contract ends next year, we we are working with other local councils to identify an area where we can have a new one built.

Organised as ever ....... paid for brown bin still not deleverd though me & next door Neighbour paid same day ...e has his i am still with green un

as for account i do have one .....website is so slow to update its frightening ....prob governments fault!

Btw , what is the cost of new bin wagons

Admin....why has account been slowed for approx 2 months ? or is it pure censorship
Website works perfectly well for me.
You will get your new bin before they remove the old one, so no panic.
We work with the budget that the government allows us to have.
As far as I am aware new bin wagons are about £250,000 each.

So 1.1 m on bins ? 250 k on how many trucks ?

surely a label on green bins save £;s
The old green bins are diamond lifting bins and require a diamond lift wagon, the black and blue lid bins are fork lift bins and require a fork lift wagon, the new brown bins are now fork lift so we now only require one type of wagon instead of two.

Is it true that if you wish to keep your green bin, you just have to put a label on it declaring so.
I’m still awaiting the delivery of my brown bins so will have to use my green bins until they turn up.

Dunsdale Recycling Centre is the same, absolutely no need for it to be either tbh

Yes, but please be aware, once you have decided to keep it, it's yours and the council won't be able to empty or remove it ever again.

Green waste will collected fortnightly depending where you live- you can log onto your council account and the calendar will tell you the date, the calendar will also tell you the day when your black(general waste) and recycling gets emptied.
If you don't have an account, and you really should if you live in Middlesbrough, you should set one up, it's very simple.

Says on the council website that my new brown bin will be emptied on Wednesday 24th April, my old green bill is still here and full, so when is it going to be emptied and taken away. The council couldn’t even answer that question the other day. Then they have the cheek to say I must pay another £40 if it’s stolen.

You will get a leaflet in your door the day before the green bin will be taken away. I am sure that the councillor in charge of environment is looking into the £40 charge officers are telling people, I'll reply when he has told us what is going on because as far as I was aware they would be no charge for replacement brown bins, but as I say, i'll try to keep the page updated. Most of what I am posting is 3rd hand as I don't really have anything to do with the environment dept.

As someone that goes to the tip about once a fortnight, there's no way in hell I want to go back to just "rocking up" and queuing sometimes somewhat back on the main road at busy periods. Any time the weather is nice everyone gets the same idea and hammers the DIY or gardening and then to the tip.

Any time I want to go to the tip I've not once had it be that I can't book a same day slot, and as soon as you get there, you show your id and you're usually straight in or have to wait one cars worth. It's vastly quicker and imagine it gives the council easy access to stats around which council each user is from to cover cost splits

Totally agree, it's a much better system than the old one, you're straight in and out, better than spending an hour queuing to get in.

If you don't have an MBC 'account' you currently can't see what your bin collection schedule is....thousands of pensioners won't have one...?

Exactly. The tip was fine in winter but any other time of the year you'd usually expect to be in the queue for a spot, which is annoying when you've got various different loads to drop off and trying to figure out where everything is etc

Then new system the queue doesn't even get to that first inner roundabout at the bottom of the ramp so you can even drive back to the other section if you missed a bit , then you're straight on with your day

Flyer through the door on Friday said collecting & removing green bins in Marton area tomorrow, Monday..

Check council website for full schedule..
On the back of this I was my street’s “Bin-fluencer”. Now everyone has theirs out.
The council’s website doesn’t mention Marton for this week. But I’m too proud to admit I was wrong and bring it back in!

I'm thinking it was too much for one day so will be back tomorrow.. leaving it out there now as - I can guarantee as soon as I'd bring it in they'd be along..

All the neighbours had their green bins out today for taking away. They obviously didn’t read the email properly. Wait for a leaflet to come through your door! This weeks collections are shown here.
