Hackney suspended Saturday

They are trying to stamp out time wasting and the ref told him to leave the pitch without waiting for his number. Hackney allegedly didn’t know he was being subbed until his number comes up. The ref was clearly heavy handed, but he was getting irked by some of our antics, Dieng was mastrful at it despite being booked, refs aren’t stupid either and so his only way of showing his feelings is by carding players, shame but as MC would say, that’s football.

The plan was probably for him to miss Exeter, but Howson will have to play Stoke now with Barlaser. Injuries are mounting too, hopefully we can put a competitive side against an unpredictable Stoke team, they have a tough game against Leeds tonight and will have a days less recovery, so hopefully that aspect balances out some of our issues.
 
It won't do any harm for hayden to have a rest sometimes you have to manage without your best players and bring somebody else into the fray.
If we don't win on saturday it's not the end of the world it's one injury/suspension to many.

We will definitely miss Hackney but it's probably not the worst game for him to miss. He was going to pick up a suspension at some point.
 
I see it as a big positive!

Cards don’t get reset for another 6 league games. And don’t carry over into the cups.
So he’s nailed on to miss a league game soon.

Surely missing Stoke at home (when he’s picked up a knock and could use a rest anyway) is a way better option than Plymouth/Bristol away or Leicester at home???

And he’d have needed to avoid a yellow in the next 3 games to look past that (with next been Preston at home anyway so a coin flip with missing Stoke).

He was very lucky not to have been booked for that tackle on Stacey just inside our box right near the end, he went in late with studs up and his foot was very high. Maybe the necessary force wasn’t quite there but on another day their player goes down, we concede a penalty and Hackney gets a booking and sits the next one out anyway.

I think the yellows we picked up for time-wasting are fair enough. We were running down the clock and trying to break up the game. The referee can book whoever he likes for doing that IMO.
 
I dont think we can argue with a couple of bookings for time wasting - we had some right dark arts on show last night! haha but all part of the game nowadays.
 
I wonder if we’ll see the young lad McCabe on the bench for Saturday.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we were comfortably winning and gave him a few minutes at the end.

Hackney took one for the team really. We were sh!thousing and the ref eventually decided that Hackney would be the one to take the card for it....my only issue is that moments before he was writhing on the ground after a tackle, a refs first job is the safety of the players, getting a multi-million pound asset to leave the pitch quicker when he's clearly got an injury is the opposite of ensuring the safety of the players. The ref knew he had an injury and had no idea at the extent of it. That's before you get to the communication issue. The 4th officials failure cost him a booking, that is an officiating procedure failure and shouldn't result in player punishment.

I'd suspect Lath is the only one that will be back on saturday.

Greenwood has played CM for Leeds before, if we need to change CM at some point this weekend then we could see Greenwood drop to CM and Rogers or Silvera come in on the left

Wouldn't have been a penalty as he was outside the box. There's a replay from another angle that showed the "tackle" with him basically laid down outside the line of the box.

Far more likely Crooks would play deeper than that.
 
I think Rogers could comfortably cover if anything were to happen to Howson or Barlaser but I'm hoping to see one of the young players on the bench to hopefully get a few minutes. Maybe Cartwright if we're trying to persuade him to sign a deal when he's eligible in a few months.

Other teams are picking up injuries and yellow cards.
It takes a certain type of Coach to steer his team through the tough times.
We have the best.
We`ve got the squad to do it.

Rogers? Would have thought we shift crooks or McNair there.
We've an absolute wealth of options at centreback if we need to move paddy forward. Lenihan, RVB and Clark. Even djiksteel at a push.
