Granddaughter knocked on all of the doors, lights off as well, never mind pumpkins about.Did you have a pumpkin out? My sister was telling me that there's an 'unwritten' rule now that you only knock on doors with pumpkins/decorations, thus showing you want to play the game.
(Good if true, as I'm not interested, and realised I had no 'treats' in last night, but didn't fancy getting my front door egged)!!
I'm a youngster in my late 60's but we had Halloween in Teesside when I was a kid. No dressing up and coins were given out at the doors of those who could afford to. No pumpkins either, it was a carved out snagger with a candle in.None here in N Yorkshire. I don’t think we did Halloween when I was a lad. Possibly a USA custom.
Looks like they found out where Willy Wonka lives.
My kids asked to go out but I wouldn’t let them.
Amounts to begging
I did sound a bit grumpy then didn’t I!Thats the spirit!

I’m still not letting my younguns knock on doors begging though
We did the same. And the bowl went missing! We left a bowl of sweets on the doorstep for trick or treaters to help themselves whilst we were out.
