I do see your point and reckon it’s a strong argument too. The only issue I was raise is cricket and rugby are hardly mass participation sports. Even then, England are not as successful as New Zealand, South Africa and Australia (especially league).

I think at least at the moment you could make the argument England are the most successful Cricket team in the world. Current one day, 20/20 champions, and breaking records everywhere with their test team. Also incredible as it seems, Cricket is the world's second most popular sport!

Not doing quite as well at Rugby mind!
