No doubting his ability going forward 'on his day', but that is usually the difference the further up the leagues you go. Mindset and consistency, unfortunately he lacks both clearly. Good luck to him.

Shame they can’t spell Teesside in the report…. Obviously attended the Nobby Barnes English language and spelling college…..

Glad he's doing OK although I don't see what point they are trying to make. He's out of contract. end of season so he's a free agent. Don't see how us sacking Wilder effects his situation.

They love him , extend his Boro contract , bring him back , or use him as an exchange for Miovski , Ramadani or Matt Kennedy , who are also getting rave reviews.

Because, as the article points out, Wilder's sacking means Middlesbrough is "a far more unsettling environment."

In contrast, at Aberdeen (according to them) he can look forward to, "regular game time, adoring fans [and] a chance to achieve a crack at European football."

As far as I'm concerned, the departure of Wilder, with no permanent replacement in sight, does indeed qualify Middlesbrough as a more unsettling environment than Aberdeen just at the present time.

He wouldn't be coming back anyway though, he's out of contract.

We definitely wouldn't be recalling him in January when we have Giles, and we're not going to extend the contract.

Nathan Wood also getting good reviews at Swansea.I know hes been sold but clearly the ability at Boro to judge a players ability is..... questionable.
Not necessarily, I think sometimes these academy players need to move on to kick on.

He is on loan for the full season, at the end of which he is out of contract. So under what circumstances does the changing environment at boro make any difference to him or Aberdeen.? He will be free to sign a new contract with whoever he wants... that was my understanding of the situation anyway. Is that not the case?

I don't think the club wanted to sell him, I think they felt forced to or they'd lose him for nothing.

Wood was in the last year of his contract and allegedly refused to sign a new one unless he was guaranteed a starting place this season.

Maybe he's shown enough at Swansea to prove the club wrong for not agreeing to that, I've not watched them outside of our game against them where I thought he struggled, but I don't think he'd shown anywhere near enough in our cup matches or a failed loan spell to be demanding that at 20 years old.

I'd have preferred he'd stayed, but I wouldn't have had him starting regularly for us this season.
