Hayden Hackney Highlights

He does occasionally give silly fouls away in dangerous areas, but he'll learn with experience.

Report on MFC site:

Hayden Hackney made his debut for Scotland's Under-21s at Fir Park on Thursday evening.

The midfielder started and played 90 minutes of the friendly match against Iceland for Scot Gemmill's side.

The young Scots were good value for the lead when fellow debutant Max Johnston fired in opener after half an hour.

But Iceland came out fighting, and equalised just after the break through Kristall Mani Ingason.

Hackney was punished for a mistake when losing possession and conceding a penalty shortly after, with Ingason the man to slot it away for the visitors.

And despite plenty of Scottish pressure late on, the away side held on to claim victory.

Scotland coach Gemmill told the press it was "a major lesson for our players...but a great experience and there's a lot we can look forward to next year."

Elsewhere for Boro's internationals, Marcus Forss played the final seven minutes as Finland drew 1-1 with North Macedonia, replacing goalscorer Oliver Antman.

Darragh Lenihan was an unused substitute as Republic of Ireland lost 2-1 to Norway.
