Heading for a big boxing day like crowd on Saturday

Not sure how many of 1800 west brom asked for have been sold, but they're still on general sale, with cash on the day.
Suspect not a huge turnout.

I bet folk will be going to some of these games now to get priority points 'just in case we get to Wembley or a big away allocation in the semi final'. Which I don't mind. The more the merrier.

Not sure that's much of a factor. Just exiles back on Teesside for Christmas of which I am one.

Fourth match of the season for me with my record so far P3 W0 D0 L3 F4 A9 so i apologise in advance.

Aren't crowds on the Saturday before Christmas traditionally low?
Or is that no longer true?
It used to be said it was because a lot of fans were "Christmas shopping with their wives". 🥸

I do remember that actually but maybe not so close to Christmas. You need nerves of steel to leave your Christmas shopping until the 23rd.

Also more on-line shopping nowadays?

Can't understand that. Fairly big club and 5th in the league (albeit a LONG way behind 2nd).

I suppose this is the "boxing day" fixture for home fans, but for away fans, there will be lots of other social options on the last Saturday before Christmas. I bet they'd have brought more if it were on Boxing Day.

That's true, but it is very close to Xmas (and boxing day), with many of the exile crowd back already (see above).
Maybe the new year's day crowd will be less.

Was in the premier league we actually did kids for a quid for a game against Charlton when crowds were already dipping

I think also we used to sell a lot fewer season tickets, so there was a bigger fluctuation between attendances.
In 79/80 the lowest crowd was under 12k (on 21st Dec).
The highest was over 30k (against Man Utd).

Even if season ticket holders do decide to go shopping, they will still be included in the attendance.

It depends where it falls I suppose. This year being the 23rd most people have finished work and are back home for Christmas and there is no Boxing Day match.

If we had been home for Boxing Day then our last home game before Xmas would have been 16th and attendance probably would have been lower.

Let's hope the atmosphere is like the Leicester game rather than the last two games which have been really flat. Makes a massive difference.

As the lad next to me said at the Ipswich game "need to get behind the lads today. gonna need our help". Then managed the first 10mins before getting up for a burger. Left 10mins before HT for a beer then managed 15mins of the 2nd half before declaring "this is sh!te I'm off for another beer" 🤣

Stockton Town have got some decent players and I think they've appeared in the penalty shoot-outs at the Riverside (y)
