Put the thermostat down to 14 and told the wife wear two vests and a fleece in the house.
Hoping to be out of hospital soon.

We have hive trvs in most rooms. I have the dining room, 2 spare bedrooms and kitchen set to 15c. My wife cannot understand why every room isnt boiling when you walk into them.I’ve had it on a few times in the last few days and I’m normally one to tell others just to put an extra layer on.
Looking at getting some of the Hive radiator valves so I can control which rooms rather than the whole house.
Anyone had any experience of getting those set up? I’ve already got the thermostat.
Are they fairly easy to setup? I think some of my radiator valves aren’t ‘compatible’ according to the Hive website. We have hive trvs in most rooms. I have the dining room, 2 spare bedrooms and kitchen set to 15c. My wife cannot understand why every room isnt boiling when you walk into them.
Been in a few times over the last couple of months. Nice outside when sunny as you say. It's a fantastic building but a bit run down, it could be a 5 Star hotel with about a billion quid spent on it...
Friendly place with cheap drinks... Nice sat out front in the sun......I'm in![]()
I find that the kids don't feel the cold, never mention it, so that's fine by me, and I don't put the radiators on intheir rooms. having spent 6 winters living in a van I'm quite resilient, too. Just have to convince the mrs...Put mine on thismorning when i got in from nights ready for the kids to get up for school - When i checked the smart meter half hour later it cost me £1.30 for half hour of heating
Dead easy. They come with different connectors. Are they fairly easy to setup? I think some of my radiator valves aren’t ‘compatible’ according to the Hive website.
No, they didn't. There were loads of excess deaths in the days before central heating. There's nothing 'good old days' or nostalgic about a drop in living standards.I remember staying with my gran in Stockton in the middle of winter in the early 70s. No heating except open fire in the evening in the living room and heat from the oven. Sheets of ice inside the bedroom windows in the morning. Nobody complained and they lived to a ripe old age. Those were the days. And the football was better.
