Heavyweight boxing really is a joke!

I really don't know if I can be bothered with boxing now and don't think I will be paying for any future fights. This is no disrespect to Ngannou, but after one fight which he lost(controversial decision but still lost)he is now a top ten rated heavyweight. I feel sorry to the up and coming heavyweights who have spent years and years developing boxing skills and being overlooked because the name doesn't sell PPV or tickets so not given the opportunity. I remember as a kid getting up in the middle of the night to listen on the radio to Mike Tyson or Lennox Lewis fights. My dad was a boxing coach and I travelled all around the country watching boxing for years growing up but now it is just turning into A joke and money is ruining it.
Rant over and I apologise if I have offended anyone, but this has really annoyed me.

It's always been a joke really hasn't it?

Ali fought some wrestler back in the day didn't he? And it's always had a dodgy fixed reputation linked to gangsters?

It's only bad at the moment because of Fury stinking the place out and refusing to properly retire, although everyone knows he is retired.

There are far too many belts as well, there should just be one belt for each weight division.

In a way I agree it always has been(Foreman and the 5 fights in A night, Ali and the wrestler). I have nothing against exhibition bouts as these can be interesting and you are right too many belts in each division. This has for some reason annoyed me(probably more than it should) but for the future of boxing this needs to stop or young lads(and lasses) are going to look at other combat sports as they won't see a future if they don't have a huge social media following or a reputation.

I don’t think they could have done anything else tbh.. if he had won.. what would that have meant to boxing?

It adds a bit of spice and interest and you could say he’s been given a hand up in the boxing world by the boxing elite.. Mike Tyson and Tyson Fury himself.

Ngannou is a fighter, and he gave a cracking account of himself, much better than chisora and whyte have recently, who both you would probably argue have legitimate claims at top 10 status. For ngannou to do that in his very first fight needs to be praised not dismissed, he did better than any other fighter who’s fought fury and you think he needs to make his name in leisure centres before he gets a ranking, get real man.

At least 3 bouts at the Millhouse, and a few more at the Rainbow - then come and talk to me
