In what shape or form is this anything like Strachan?
Southgate was let down by our recruitment he did well in the circumstances but obviously results suffered, after asking for a powerful forward in the next transfer window he was told he was being replaced by a manager the club had been in talks with party way through the season.

Neil Bauser joined the club in in 2007 as Chief Operating Officer.. how do fans feel like we’ve done in that period of time since he joined?

The trend now seems to be that managers are sacked frequently. It's as though the owners see them as over-rated in the greater scheme of things (making money) and having to be indulged with expensive signings and long terms plans. Best sack them before they gather support from fans.
As for building a 'brand' as suggested above, you can't achieve that with a high churn rate of staff, and anyway, supporters are too fickle to back anything that looks like a long term project.

Poor recruitment, did well in the circumstances, let go mid season after asking for a new striker and replaced by a manager that the club had been in talks with much earlier.

The issue is it's all about winning NOW. Even any planning is at most these days for a season ahead. The fans just won't wear it. A season of finishing 14th with a promise that the team will be competitive next year, OK. But an NFL style "this is going to be a three year rebuild and we're going to be poor for those years but it will be worth it", no way. Even Norwich, who seemed to be founded on a promote, relegate, promote cycle have lost their nerve. There's so much money in the Premier League that you basically have to get your hands on that cash as soon as you can. We buggered it up when we had our season, though not as badly as other teams have. But we still messed it up.

I mean honestly, without a huge turnaround we'll be in the same position next year. Wilder will get the rest of this season because it's "not his team" but in a years time if we're not in the top six and firing on all cylinders, we'll be looking for our sixth manager in five years.

Strachan did well? You’re on the wind up again Newy. Stay off the crack 😉

When saying that the club has been drifting last few years. I believe hes right in saying that we have recruited expensive players to suit the manager of the day. Only to be left high and dry with them when the next manager doesn't fancy them. Also right saying we need an identity. The Boro way.Have we ever really had one? Maybe 73/74 . We should recruit a manager and players that reflect this Boro way.

There is a West Ham way a Spurs way , a Man U way. What could the Boro way be.
I get the feeling a few managers coming in have made this and that demand and have got the own way. Gibson should be more hands on if it his club which I don't believe it is. He is just the current custodian. And one day he won't be.

Its time we told managers a framework and philosophy they need to work to not give them free reign to dictate the way the Boro is run as a club. From what has been said today and in the past I don't think theres much doubt SG is very happy to delegate too much of the running of his club to others.
Anybody who thinks Gibson delegates anything significant is delusional.
There isn't a West Ham way, a Spurs way, by the way. Some of their very old fans just think there is.

Absolutely one the worst clichés in football the west ham way its utter bull.

Maybe but the point is we shouldn't let a manager run the club, like Pulis tried to and to a lesser extent Monk. Pulis did claim to have sorted out finances or did I just imagine that he said that?
And we all know what Monk did when it was clear he was determining financial transactions.

Well Warnock thinks he did. Warnock said he was not hands on. And I think warnock has seen more clubs day day to running from the inside more than almost anyone.

Spot on. Look a the success England have had by having continuity from U-16s/18s right up to the senior team. I accept club football has the lottery of the transfer market thrown in but surely this is a model we should aspire to.

Basically all the levels of football in the club, youth to senior, should be aiming for a football style which can progress as the times move on or as we bring new managers in, who buy into the football ethos but tweak the system a little. The DoF would be the most important person at the club over a longer period of time because he would be the one who recommends the players.
