Hope we go for it this summer

Not expecting many, if any, big price tags. But think we might go a bit bigger than we did this year with a few more in the £2m-4m bracket.

I do think the club are open to spending big if what they see as the right player becomes available (eg. Strand-Larsen, Archer) but those deals are hard to do and Gibson won't be held to ransom, so fairly unlikely.
Not sure I believe that we were ever considering actually spending the money on them. It doesn't make sense to have a target that you are willing to spend money on and then 2/3 years later to still not have spent that money on someone else. It's very easy to say we were interested to appear ambitious but it's another thing entirely to actually go through with it.

Not a patch on jones. Set piece delivery good, but all round game poor. Watched Huddersfield quite regularly and he's hit and miss. Nee to be looking at better if we want to go up.
He's playing for a side in the bottom 3 and he has 9 assists. He's always looked the business when I've seen him 👍

At least six quality additions needed - it’ll probably be more than that as McGree, Forss and Hackney could well be subject of offers

Massive job this summer, even bigger than the last I fear. I can see several players leaving.

McNair, Dijksteel, McGree, Hoppe, Ayling, Thomas, O’Brien, Greenwood all definitely off.

Hackney & Rav too if the money’s right.

Barlaser, Silvera should be sold, they’re not good enough.

Which would leave us with

Dieng, Glover,
Smith
Fry, Lenihan, Clarke
Bangura, Engel,
Howson (We’ll give him another year)
Azaz, Forss, Jones,
Latte Lath, Coburn

Unless we see some major transfer activity, I can’t see next season being any different to this one.

Not sure the club will want a massive change after seeing what it did to our prospects this season - I thought one of the reasons to buy players instead of loan so many last summer was so we can have a bit of consistency? The players we’ve brought in are obviously not as good as the loads but that was a given.

Having made money on Rogers I’m hoping we can keep Hackney one more season and still bring in some decent players to have a chance next season. We’re a few points off the play offs so surely it doesn’t need a huge turnover of players? Also have we ever had so many injuries?

If we sell Rav or Hackney you know where the clubs ambitions lay as both are on long term contracts.

McGree is likely to go if he won't extend his contract in the summer.

Ideal scenario is we cash in on McGree and bolster our already healthy war chest, keep the rest of the best, and bring in 3 or 4 more players. We do need to add some bite to the midfield though. We could also do with a couple of experienced players in there too. Can't rely on Howson next season like we have done.

I think we'll be up there next season.

Suppose of a team like Everton stay up and want McGree he’s probably going to go but I don’t think he’s done enough to move to a much bigger team - although European clubs would like him and he’d probably do alright in Italy.

Recruitment need to get Carrick the players he needs to play the system he wants. This stale 5 at the back stuff is not what he is about. If we dont give him the tools then we aint going anywhere in an upwards trajectory

They won't sell Silvera, they seem to really rate him (or at least his potential).

I'm pretty neutral on it, he still looks really raw but he cost nowt. Think it's fair enough to give him another season to see if he can become the player Carrick seems to see in him and we need to recruit better in those positions anyway, whether he stays or not.

I don’t think Carrick sees it in him really. He’s been using him as a sub, mostly because he hasn’t really got any other options.

Can't see him getting a PL move.

I think France or Spain are the most likely destinations, if only because there apparently were clubs from those leagues interested last summer.

I like the bit about Burnley, Luton, Sheff Utd all coming down so it’s easier for us.

All 3 went up better teans than us and are coming down even stronger whilst we’ve gone backwards
They'll lose players, the better players will move on. It's not easy to replace them no matter how much parachute cash you have as we've seen so many times.

These aren't established too flight clubs, they're like we were when we came down but with less of a fan base.

Of course he’ll say that, he’s not going to come out and publicly slate the lad is he?

But when Silvera’s been fit, he generally hasn’t started. It’s clear he doesn’t see him as starter. Words are one thing, actions are another.

Feels like a good year to do it, given the teams coming down.
We brought in some raw talent last season; it's had its chance to adapt to the English game, next season will be the time to deliver.

I do think the sales this Winter have put us in a good position.

I am wary of trying to change too much this summer though. I think the "complete rebuild needed" approach has been responsible for our slow start in recent seasons, and it will happen again if we try to change half our starting 11.

I accept it WAS needed last summer due to moving on from the flawed policy of building our team around loan signings. I be looking to sign no more than 3 starters this Summer, any more should be the developmental type of player.

He's not going to a team like Everton. Very few championship players with no PL experience are bought by PL clubs unless they are very young or exceptionally good. Even players like Gyokeres and Akpom couldn't get a PL move. Sometimes a promoted team like Luton that can't attract better players but will strengthen their squad in the event of relegation have a go with a player.

McGree has been nowhere near good enough or consistent enough to warrant interest from the PL. He might get a sideway move to a team in the top league that is weaker than the PL but I really don't think we have to worry about PL interest.

It's one thing to want to play in the PL but you have to prove you are good enough first and McGree doesn't. He couldn't even get in our team last season and he hasn't improved, probably gone backwards with all the injuries.

I think you need to re-read what I originally wrote. I said nothing about Carrick seeing him as a regular starter.

He's played Silvera quite a lot. More than most fans would I think. Based on that and his comments it suggests Carrick sees a player in there.

Carrick not starting players doesn't mean he doesn't rate them. It's a squad game.

I would agree with this. Very unlikely to get a prem move so move abroad is most likely.

He's 25 so a club wouldn't really be buying potential.
