Hospital Food

In light of Teesside Vera Watch Live's latest article, where a James Cook nurse is complaining about patients/visitors bringing in takeaways link: Hospital Food

Do you think the NHS should provide food free of charge to patients?

I still have fond memories of the sausage casserole I had after coming round from my Achilles operation, I was bloody starving after not eating beforehand then the operation getting delayed all day.

The quality of food may not be the tastiest in the world, I dare say. I am thankful for free food and care overall from the NHS which is the envy of the world. I think about other countries and their lack of basic food and water and count my blessings.

My wife spent a couple of days in JCUH last week. The staff were all briliant (as you'd expect) but it was absolutely boiling hot and they served Curry or Shepherds Pie for lunch 🤷‍♂️

I spent a week in JCH in 2021 after a ruptured appendix and the food was a mixed bag with some meals better than others but at least there was a few options on the daily menu.

Had very little appetite and barely ate for a couple of days post op as i'd swelled up like a balloon but one morning I thought i'd try and force a bit of buttered toast down for breakfast as I had to be eating and going to the loo before they would let me home.

Just as I took my first bite a nurse came round to say i needed to do a Covid test, rammed a bud to the back of my throat which had my gagging and hot sweating and the toast went straight in the bin!

The cheap ultra processed rubbish that hospitals have to serve is probably more unhealthy than a takeaway
