How does the GRFZ work?

I've also asked if this can be brought up. Why confine reasonable junior pricing to one small area of the stadium.
I personally think the club should massively reduce the U18 price and then keep the GRFZ open, but just make it £510 for an adult and U14, as I believe U14s need to be accompanied by an adult anyway.

They really should just consider extending the family zone prices to all areas of the stadium.
We had this conversation last year. It’s basically been a closed shop for the last few years. Once you’re in you can be in there for a while. Also, I’m pretty sure there is a waiting list.

Im almost certain the reason we got about it not being extended around the ground is that it’s a section that is specific for families with young children. Its to avoid swearing and other things. I’d love to have my son with me, as I’ve moved seats to sit with him numerous times this season, but at the state of the current prices it’s not possible.

Not all kids are young kids though are they that's where the club are falling down

Agreed. The club are just not forward thinking and don’t seem to be willing to engage.

You could be innovative and extend the prices to around the ground and say to people not in the GRFZ we’ll do that price for the first season but next if you want the same the next you pay 1/3 of the kids price, 2/3 in the second and then full. All the while put on the waiting list for GRFZ.

Atleast then people are aware and still within a chance of getting in the family zone.

You need to either ring the ticket office or go into the ticket office to get information on GRFZ tickets and they are unavailable to purchase online. They just appear to be constantly sold out.

MFC don't publish any information regarding this. It's almost like they don't want people to benefit from them.

I've asked Rob to bring this up a few times at fans forums about getting information more visible and making tickets more accessible.
BG - the tickets sell by their methods. I have brought it up at forum meetings as you requested they said there were levels of abuse in the recent past ie adults without kids. They are reducing that now by insisting on people booking tickets in person or on phone.

They're basically saying that they don't trust their own staff to make sure it's ran properly.

But surely they should have a simple statement on the website telling people this

"Please call Ticket Office or attend Stadium Ticket Office for tickets in Generation Red Family Zone. These tickets aren't available online"

There's still people on this thread who don't realise this and think they are unavailable. Because that is exactly as they appear online!

Do you recall last season Steve Gibson gave us his thinking on this. He told us the number of concessions around the ground and the actual cut Boro get per ticket sold. Wasn't it about £12 from a fully priced adult ticket?
Am not defending or justifying but he sent us some of the actual figures to look at his reasoning. Was last season now. I wonder if I still have it.

You're making it sound like these things just happen to him and the club rather than him being in a position to do something about it.

You want more full ticket price supporters through the turnstiles? Do something about it.

I've sat in the GRFZ for the last couple of seasons and it is decent value. We were going to move again this coming season though as my lad and nephew don't want to go anymore. Plus the kiosk queues aren't as bad as the north stand.

Ring the ticket office if you want to move there as you might have to wait for 3 or 4 seats together to come up. You can tell them where you want to be then after the early bird deadline has ended and they know what seats will be going on general sale they'll call you with what's available.

Just have more competitive junior season tickets stadium wide. Other clubs do....

WBA - £25 for U17s to sit anywhere in the stadium for a season. Brilliant.
Sunderland - £55 for U16s virtually stadium wide. At least 90% of the stadium
Leicester are one of the more expensive for juniors and have a tiered system. U8 - £55, U10 - £95, U12 - £95, U16 - £125

Middlesbrough - £206 stadium wide (Unless you can manage to get in the very exclusive GRFZ)

DISGRACE

Makes sense to me.

Having one U18 price and essentially classifying that as the price of a junior ticket is ludicrous.

Why not try £206 for U18s and then £100 for U16s at least.

As I've said, keep the GRFZ open so that it's still cheap as chips for a parent to take their young child and then add in the U16 price.

NO they shouldn't. The GRFZ is a massive mistake.
There are an enormous number of people who pay literally nothing and the average revenue generated per head in the zone is pitiful by comparison to anywhere else.
Extending that around the stadium would be seriously idiotic.
The U18's SC EB price is £206 literally ANYWHERE in the stadium. That is £8.96 per match. That is very good value in my opinion.

Having a restructured approach to concessions around the stadium is what is required for Walk Ups and new season cards.
The premium charged for new or occasional customers is what is wrong.

KIDS SC PRICES ARE NOT CRAZY HIGH.
THE MATCHDAY KIDS ONES ARE.

They will charge you £22 plus booking fee for an U18, (including a 5 year old in the West Stand Upper) for the next match at home to Plymouth.
That same seat on an U18 EB SC would be £8.96 next season, or £10.04 as a new applicant on EB. That is a 146% premium for a matchday young fan.
They might sharpen the pricing for some younger U18's, but really the SC pricing is very very good already.
The matchday/occasional pricing is absolutely and relatively obscene.

Gibson is to Revenue Management what he is to diplomacy.

I have saved it. It's release by Gibson was a reason I supported the need for a price increase last summer and was so optimistic a year ago.
That together with the prospect of promotion, watching a bright young manager grow and watching the likes of Akpom, Archer, Ramsey and Forss take on the premier league.

Instead we're chugging along in mid table, looking down and wondering where Banana Boots is going to miss next.

Gibson said the club actually makes an average of £12.37 from the price of a match ticket.

I wouldn't say an adult and a child paying a total of £510 for their season card is paying next to nothing.

The average revenue generated per head in the zone may be pitiful by comparison to anywhere else, but at least it's still revenue generated.

I do agree that having a restructured approach to concessions across the stadium would be the best move the club could make, I'd prefer for the club to try this first, but otherwise I think extending the family zone prices across the stadium would be the next best thing.

As I said in a previous post, keep it at £206 for an U18, and then charge £100 for U16, in all areas across the stadium.
