Howson - outstanding display

Howson gets far too much stick, the man is a post-2017 club legend, has a lot of passion, always gives 100% even if his performances as a man in his twilight years do not necessarily reflect that. He's turned in some very good performances in some very mediocre times for the club - definitely has a lot to offer us as captain, and definitely shouldn't be starting every week - he should be used only when we look at the data and know that he is going to have the space to drive forward against opposition players and really make an impact, as he's limited now by how many sides he has the pace and consistency to do that against.

I think he'll benefit from working with Chris Wilder, as to be fair to him, the last 3 managers have not wanted to or been able to play to his more technical abilities.

I guess Wilder will decide whether there is a place in th eteam for him or not. He may want to replace Howson in January, or at least give another option. I would think it will depend on how he does playing a different type of football. He may well have an Indian summerr in his career based on the differrent football philosophy. It wouldn't be the first time a player has struggled under one manager and flourished under another.
