I wonder if the royal death

I know right, it'll be a month of nothing on TV, they'll switch teh internet off, and play the national anthem from hired Ice Cream vans on the hour every hour.
Check my link the plan is all there no comedy allowed until a few weeks after etc.

If they block netflix I'm taking them to court. I plan on wall-to-wall comedy for a month. I'm gonna post a joke on the hour, every hour from 9-9pm on social media

some people have just been rendered docile through years of systematic rhetoric. Wouldn't be surprised if Holgate_roof was ex-forces, it's rife cop doffers in that world. Why anyone would sign up to lay their life down for that family, I don't know.
Nope, not ex-forces but have a strong sense of national identity that you appear to lack.

Because that is the only way that a person can protect our country. If you don't sign up to protect the family you don't get in.

it's not a lot to ask to be allowed to choose if we join in with this show of virtue signalling, or if we are allowed to get on with our lives as normal. By taking over our national broadcaster and moving sporting events because they clash with his funeral that choice is taken away.

If you want to grieve over some guy that lived a a life of luxury at our expense fill your boots, but let the normal folks carry on as normal with our football at 3pm
I’m not grieving. You are entirely able to choose to join in or not. My tv has an off button as does yours. I haven’t paid it much attention beyond the original news.

However, When someone dies it is, in my book, better to simply stay quiet if you only have bile to spout. Whether you are a monarchist or republican is of little consequence really, it’s just common decency. If anything, spouting bile only shows the spouter up. If it is done in the name of republicanism then it does your argument for that no favours whatsoever as it shows you up to be intolerant and bigoted, and does not engender respect for your cause. The bloke may have had privilege, but he did plenty of work for good causes over many years. As said, monarchist or republican, respect costs nothing.
(the use of you and your is metaphorical and does not pertain to you as an individual in this paragraph)

ultimately, people are free to view it as the see fit, I just think it shows themselves in a poor light if they can’t be respectful of a death of anyone.

Edited for mis-types/predictive text errors and those who cannot grasp the use of you directly and you in general speak relating to anyone.

I have a strong sense of national identity. I'm proud of lots of things my fellow countrymen/women have achieved. We have great artists like Hockney, Constable, Emin and Banksy, great musicians likeHarvey, Lennon and Yorke, engineers like Brunell, scientists like Hawking, Lovelace and Darwin, sportmen like Mansell, Moore, and Lewis. We are a country of artists, musicians, scientists, inventors and sportsmen. That is something to be proud of, certainly more than an old woman in a gold hat who inherited money from the subjugation of foreign lands. Cheers

Your hatred for the Queen and Prince Philip as people is illogical and seems very unhealthy for you, it is like you are directing your socialist and political views at them personally, which is I am sure will agree is ridiculous when you reflect.

The bit where i wrote “the use of you and your....etc” is critical to understanding that I was not directly speaking about you as a specific individual
well the "you" bit was directly at me, so what bile did I post? Or is that an admittance that I didn't post bile?

I'm a centrist, don't project your hatred of the left on me.

I dislike racist, I dislike people who abuse positions of power. That might be illogical to you, but you like these particular racists and these people who abuse power, I find that illogical.

No the general post wasn’t aimed directly at you, hence the rider.

granted the bit about TVs having an off button could be advice you could take directly.

to make it easier to draw the distinction I have separated the paragraphs in the original post for you so there is less of a chance of a misinterpretation/misunderstanding by you or anyone else.

I will, if the the weather is good I'll sit in my garden with some non-somber music playing, and a cold draft beer.

If the weather is crap, I'll sit in and watch back to back Friday Night Dinners in memory of a universally liked and hard working guy.

I will behave myself at the U15s footy match and twiddle my thumbs during the minute silence while reminiscing his most hateful 'gaffs' :sneaky:
