How?I voted tory aswell it seemed a better choice than corbyn and Abbott, who knows what would have been but I wish I didn't bother.
I'm not uber keen on politics especially the timing of that vote when I was in my 20s, personality was a big factor and also online propaganda definitely swayed me. I'm a lot more switched on today than I was then and I'd hope I would make the correct decision at the next ballot. How?
A proven liar against a man who looked a bit pithy but genuinely wanted to do what's best.
Also why are you voting for personalities? read their manifestos, see what they intend to do for you. Parties make policies not personalities.
Boris hasn't had one decent idea his whole life, fired for lying multiple times in politics and private industry. What made him more appealing? Genuinely I hear this line parroted a lot and I just don't get it! He is and was then a known liar, why would anyone think he was a better choice?
But without public support they couldn't have done what they did, people dhould take responsibility for what they vote for especially when its blatantly clear what they stand for.Nazis never won a majority, they where a minority party when Hitler was given the chancellorship. Most Germans rejected the Nazis, what happened after is there for all to see but the electorate never put him in power, their politicians did.
That's understandable, low information voters only get press (mostly right leaning) headlines to base their opinion on. Information is key, politics should be mandatory at school and the opinion needs to be reduced in the press. It's becoming more and more narrative and sensationalized, it's not good for democracy.I'm not uber keen on politics especially the timing of that vote when I was in my 20s, personality was a big factor and also online propaganda definitely swayed me. I must also apologise for voting Labour at at the last electin. It really annoys me that my vote was wasted on a party that had as much chance of winning the election as a one legged cat burying a turd on a frozen pond. I was just fooled by the promise of free broadband and free beer. I realised my mistake when the results started to come in and seats that had been won by Labour for nigh on 100 years were coming in blue. if Labour can not beat this current currupt inept shower of shight at the next election then its time to give upI voted for Boris Johnson in 2019. I believed his promises. I wish I didn't as he is just as bad, if not worse, than the rest of them.
He has lied and broken his Manifesto promises. Come next General Election, I won't be voting for him or the Tories again.
I never believed that HS2 was a good thing - but if it was going to be built, I always said it should be from the North downwards because we knew this would probably happen
Cancelling the Northern part, is like the Lib Dems and University Fees (I know that was a Tory Policy as well - but the Lib Dems took the blame)
Don't even get me started on the Owen Paterson stuff
Ladies and Gentlemen, we are witnessing how to lose an 80 seat majority
I can't say any more on Politics, due to mine and Rob's gentleman agreement
Propaganda is always central to power. You are absolutely spot on the, I've read a really interesting thesis recently on similar lines many years ago. as far as I remember, she hypothesises from certainly early modern history onwards, those who control the message win the war. Political or otherwise, control of information people have to form opinions has won out. I wasn't 100% on all of what she theorized but it was certainly an eye opening preposition. But without public support they couldn't have done what they did, people dhould take responsibility for what they vote for especially when its blatantly clear what they stand for.
The mess the country is in isn't down to johnson gove , the sun or the mail its those that give them the power.
Johnson doesn't stand for anything, other than what would put him into number 10.
He wasn't even a brexiter, he just tapped into what a good chunk of the county really think.
Racism, xenophobia and delusions of grandeur are vote winners.
The right wing press tap into the same, it's a vote winner and it sells papers sadly.
It won't be MPs greed or cronyism that will be his downfall, many don't care and just trot out "they are all the same "", it will be the fact that imigrants are still turning up on the beaches, the EU isn't begging us for deals, the shop shelves are empty and people are worse off financially.
When it becomes obvious that johnson couldn't deliver the the undeliverable then they will turn to the next snake oil salesman.
The country hasnt lurched to the right, its just finding out it was always on that side of the political divide.
In hindsight you wish you had voted for the winning side?I must also apologise for voting Labour at at the last electin. You know as well as I do that the last election was all about Brexit. What about 2017? When Corbyn's labour still wiped out May's majority after the most relentless press campaign of lies and smears imaginable? Doesn't suit your agenda to think about that though, does it? Well done mate. You got a bite out of me.I must also apologise for voting Labour at at the last electin. ....Vote Nobby ?You'd be wrong then. I voted for Labour under Corbyn but I won't be voting for Starmer's Labour. I won't be voting for The Tories either of course because I'd rather cut my own bollox off then do that. No point in voting for a Labour Party that is desperately trying to become the Tory Party. I need a genuine alternative that I can believe in and that certainly isn't Starmer.
That was a joke mate. But you know that already. Keep being you HundredRoom. You're one of the few posters on here capable of giving me a proper belly laugh. But you don't usually do it intentionally.you mixing up your geezers and geysers ?
You'll have my vote when I have my money Nobby. Don't make me send the bumfaced lads around.....Vote Nobby ?
