Nzed, you would have met John Derbyshire then, aka Mr Methanol plant manager. Great guy, still plays golf at Billingham. What John didn't know about that plant wasn't worth knowing.Did my apprenticeship at no.2 methanol. Finished my time just as the plant was closed down.
My Dad worked on Nylon Plant for most of the 70s and 80s. He was a plant manager.I do a bit of business in Johnson Mathey and in Wilton too on occasion. Dad worked in the Nylon Plant in the 70’s - was Superintendent when he left.
He’ll almost certainly will have known my late Dad. He left in 77 to work abroad. His boss was Bob Ferry. My Dad worked on Nylon Plant for most of the 70s and 80s. He was a plant manager.
Not worked for ICI but my grandad did… on the cyanide plant.
The stories he told were truly mind blowing in this day and age of hse
I’ve worked as a surveyor on most of the sites but stopped 12 years ago. I’m now a desk jockey in the Wilton Hilton

I too worked for Surfactants. I also went on the little private plane but sadly never saw Bryan Robson going in the opposite direction. I did my placement year 94-95. My dissertation was about the company’s environmental policiesI did my year out in the Wilton Hilton at about 1993. Loved it and even got to fly on the little private plane from Manchester to Teesside . Up and down in no time ! My dissertation was a classic ! “The advantages and disadvantages of the ICI Surfactants database system”
