If Boro could emulate another club.. who?

From our UEFA cup away day at Elmadrigal, I give you Villareal.

Talk about a club that is consistently able to punch above its weight. The Yellow Submarine saw off the mighty Bayern last night with the sort of never say die attitude they famous for.

Or possibly Sevilla, in a few years, when local councils have allowed houses to be built of every square inch of land in sight.😉

Yep, Villarreal without a doubt. So many lessons to be learned and parallels to be drawn from the company club in a company town the size of Redcar that consistently competes at the top in Spain and in Europe.

It's also worth noting that aside from the Madrids, Barca & Savilla, their competition in the Spanish top flight is arguably less than the Prem. A lesser light or 3 frequently make the top 6 and this rotates yearly and those further down are technically weaker than the likes of Wolves, Villa, Leicester etc.

That's not belittling their achievement however, they've done tremendously to hang around up there for so long and their success in Europe proves their mettle further.

Just an observation which makes it in theory easier for them to qualify for Europe every year and therefore draw the players that want that stage.

If it's a medium sized city who have punched above their weight against bigger city clubs in their league. I would go for PSV Eindoven

Brentford do appear to have a brilliant business plan. bye cheap and sell for a good profit. We do the exact opposite.
Didnt brentford pretty much take the same gamble as derby but fortunately for them they got promoted through it?
