If Boro could emulate another club.. who?

Brentford?!?!!
Norwich!!!!!

Jeasus Cripes!! If anyone gets hold of a magic genie DO NOT RUB!!
I cannot imagine any Boro fan enjoying being Norwich - they even were locked out of their promotion charge last season. But how long before you got to thinking what on earth is the point in going up to go down and again and again?
Plus next season they could be in big trouble having to off load in a big way.

Brentford!

We can do that pretty easy.. just sell Fry, Spence, Jones & Tav for big bucks! Brentford!! I can’t believe that tbh.

Ajax with their academy is unrivalled imo
Leicester with their fairy tale league win maybe

Brentford! Oh my days!!

Brentford ffs, you do realise they would have to stay in the top flight until 2078 before they equalled our total years in the top division. I don’t mind them but they’ll find their true level again soon.

As for Norwich, for me a nothing sort of a side, I’ll never forget how subdued their fans were after the play off final. No passion.

I quite like the idea of a cantera policy, developing talent from across the north east only.

Sadly I thought we were being realistic about this. I get what you're saying but if life was that simple I'd say Man City. How long ago is it that they were dire under Joe Royle, when did we pip them to a European place on the last day of the season, when did we beat them 8-1? I understand your point but surely we have to accept that we have to comply with the financial restrictions and so there are limits.

It depends completely on what you want from your football team doesn’t it. I wouldn’t want to swap places with Manchester City, they have completely lost any sort of identity, look who they belong to. Would you really want that? I’d rather watch local lads play for the Boro, don’t get me wrong I want to be reasonably competitive but not at the cost of selling our soul.

I totally agree. There has to be a sense of realistic possibilities in all of this.

I know some Norwich fans and they are totally fed up.
Yeah, and they'll be enjoying it again next year when they are getting promoted again. This is the end of their 'getting dumped on' season!

Seriously though, I know a few Norwich fans too, including season ticket holders. You are right that there does seem to be a bit more unrest this time around. I think some are feeling like there is a lack of investment in trying to give the PL a proper crack.

Promotion is never guaranteed though, they are walking a very fine between this plan working and things going wrong. Next season they'll have one of the best teams in our league but a few injuries and a bit of bad luck and the plan could fall apart.

Eventually they'll find themselves in a stronger Championship where they can't guarantee promotion again. Next season you could potentially have the likes of us and Forest who are in great form alongside the other relegated teams. It might not be easy for them.

Yeah, for some reason one of my Norwich mates is thinking they'll struggle in the Championship next season. Not sure why, but maybe they have some players who will be out of contract or something, and therefore potentially leaving?

I honestly would hate being an ajax fan knowing your best talent is sold season after season, to me thats not what being a football supporter is about, I would find that thoroughly demoralising.

I just think in such a competitive championship they'll eventually get it wrong. Its not like they are coming down with loads of Premier league quality players
