If Chuba continues this form and scores 20+ this season...

Not necessarily.

3 players scored 20+ goals last season in teams that didn't even make the play-offs.

Hopefully he does and we do though.
I am sure you are right with that stat, but we do have a pretty good team to support him. I would be surprised if chubba stays in this for for the rest of the season and we don't finish in the playoffs and are favourite to go up. But......?

If he gets 20+ goals we probably go up so that would change the equation a bit.
Hmm not necessarily. 8 more goals hardly guarantees us promotion.

I’d actually say the most likely outcome from here is that he does get 20+ but we don’t go up.

His goal scoring is the top of the ice berg. He’s turning into an excellent all-round player. Some of his passing today was first class

This is key I think. Something Carrick stressed after the game too. He's so important to the way we play, even if he'd only scored half as many he'd still be a crucial player and seen as having a good season.

We've seen with Tav what happens when you sell a player who is so important to your system. I don't think replacing Chuba would be easy at all, he was very very highly rated as a youngster and it looks like he/we have finally found a way to tap into that talent.

That said if only a year left we might not have much choice if a huge offer comes in.

I am certain we will make the playoffs. Of course I was certain last season too which had a similar pattern to this season. Who knows.

1989/90, Slaven scored 21 and we finished 21st and only 2 points above the drop.

We stayed up on the last day with a 4-1 win over Newcastle, Slaven managed a brace.
Amd we still needed Leeds to win at Bournemouth to make sure we stayed up. Such fine margins on that afternoon. Alas, I had already had plans and saw the Inspiral Carpets at Brixton Academy that day. Yes, I made the wrong choice.
