To be fair he's been the main architect for this crop of players coming through. We've cried out for years for someone to not just pick the same 'old guard' and bring in the youth. Not sure many if any managers would have blooded as many young players as he has.

I wouldnt put much store in friendlies, one weve won by the way. Were in a hell of a better state than a few years ago.

oh aye you’re right tonight definitely proved that. A meaningless friendly with literally about 8 of our first team unavailable, with all the players not wanting to get injured. Which we won.

Yeah it’s nothing more than fitness practice tonight (for the players who actually need it). Result irrelevant but we won anyway.

Garbage. It was and England B team as he has to rest 10 players who played in the CL final etc. He has brought these kids through and promoted them far earlier than any other manager would have.

Give him some credit, many many more are watching England again because of the way we play under Southgate.

I have a feeling we will do well this summer, anything other than semi final will be rightly deemed as failure let’s be honest but I think we can really do it if the right teams are selected.

I just don't want him to set up in fear of our opponents. ANY of our opponents. We have the players to put the $hits up any country on the planet and Southgate needs to give those players free reign to do so. A back three and two holding midfielders is NOT going to win us trophies.

That's the key mate, the team selections. We need to allow our frightening attacking talent to wreak havoc on our opposition, rather than be so mindful of what their attack can do to us. As much as I hate to say it, take the Leeds approach.

It's the English manager disease, despite the talent we've had on offer compared to many of our opponents.
 
It's interesting that anything less than the last 4 would be seen as failure. Its a knockout competition and will throw up some surprises as they often do. You need a fair bit of luck to win the euros.

It would be though, it’s practically a home tournament and we have a really really good squad. I wouldn’t go as far as saying we should be winning it but a tournament to be proud of would be reaching the latter stages and having a real go. If we are too conservative and get knocked out before then it would be a major disappointment and probably the end of Southgate
