Is it OK to call him 'Colin', again ?

its only a matter of time before someone finds a spare tyre & a half gallon of petrol in their shed.

poor Colin, being treated to less respect than a rabid dog with mange.

He saved us from going down & what else awaited us in the third tier
He did Erimus and for that reason alone he was the right guy at the right time.

However there are major, major concerns now. We have been struggling for any sort of form since January which has seen us in just above relegation form territory. We have spent large sums of money and backed Warnock massively yet we look directionless with no real idea of formation, starting lineup and are leaking goals. We don't score too many either and that's a dangerous combination.

I know you're a big fan of Warnock and he deserves the plaudits for keeping us up when we were looking dead and buried under Woodgate but for the large part of a year now Warnock has underperformed as a manager. Given his impending retirement I'm not convinced the players are necessarily giving him their all either.

Just to clarify I was delighted when NW took over and was absolutely the right guy at the right time. I really like him as he usually gets teams playing, makes his teams more than the sum of their parts and usually over achieves with players at his disposal. Couple that with his charismatic personality and its easy to see why he's done well almost everywhere he has been.

Also for clarity I'm not saying he needs to be sacked or should walk away but I do think there is a genuine cause for concern if things don't turn around for us soon. I really hope we somehow just click and start winnning games and climbing the table I'm just not so sure it'll happen.

However, even if he were to be sacked or walk away soon that won't change the fact he was intrumental in keeping us up as relegation under Woodgate would have been catastrophic.

It was only December last year (9 months ago) that he was idolised on here and the consensus was how fantastic it was to have "proper football manager".

Now, and a lot are the same posters, the consensus is he needs to be taken round the back of the shed and put out of his misery. We haven't even reached October yet this season!

Fickle business football!

It's not too dissimilar to when Tony Mowbray went in some respects. I understand fans are fickle but I think that's driven by how the game is today; there's no way Sir Alex Ferguson would have stayed Man Utd manager for 6 years in the modern game without being sacked.

However, fickle or not this has been going on since the start of the year and there are no signs of improvement in fact we are going backwards. I hope NW does turn it around I really do but in the modern game I think he may already have been out of a job had he been at some other clubs.

It might have just been the perception at the time, but our downward spiral under Mowbray seemed to last a lot longer and the crowds were awful. Felt like there was less than 10K there some home games. There was a real danger of us sinking without a trace to league 1.

It's certainly not great right now but I think we have to give him till at least the end of October to see how he can shape the team. A couple of wins and we're right back in.

He stopped the slide in when he took over, had us within touching distance of the play offs last season, ( despite a poor strike force), Now he seems to be struggling, not sure what the answer is but he has to be worth a few more game, however Gibbo will be watching........

I hope you're right and I'm certainly not anti-Warnock by any stretch of the imagination and really would love nothing more than to see him have a final successful season with us and get us into the playoffs it just feels some distance away right now.

Can't wait for Howson to re-do the classic Robbo half suit half footy kit pose when he's announced as our player manager.

remember the Robbo PR stunt... at the time I really didnt get he was indicating a player-manager role ... I just thought he looked a daft tvvat ...

He was the right man at the right time. I have absolutely no doubt we would have gone down under woody.

I thank him and his team for keeping us up. If he had left then we would have of been saying 'give him another year'. They did👍. I think this season was maybe one too far. We were clearly planning for a future that he wasn't part of.

I've no regrets about his spell at Boro. I've never 'enjoyed' presser so much after Woody / Pulis and Monk. It's kinda fixed an 'itch' as always wanted him to manage us. Arguably 5-6 years too late. Especially when you look at the above names.

I have a feeling he will back fire fighting a club in Jan - Feb as an official final swangson. That said could he turn down an advance from Cardiff?
