Is there a more questionable sporting record than the womens 100m

It hardly gets mentioned to be honest. I think even the americans want to forget it but they cant obliterate it from the record books because they never proved doping. And they never will.

Same with Kratochvilova. Worth watching her second lap when she breaks the WR. No fatigue, slowing down, tightening up and she beats the field by 100m.

She didn't even collapse onto the track looking for an oxygen tent :ROFLMAO:

Testing has come on massively, though always trying to stay one step ahead....

There will always be suspicion....

Flo-Jo explained her rapid improvement on everything from her new diet of water, vitamins, fish and chicken to doing up to 5,000 sit-ups a day. Her husband has always denied it was the result of drugs.

A year after winning the 100 and 200m in Seoul, Flo-Jo was accused by a fellow American sprinter, Darrell Robinson, in a paid interview with a German magazine, of taking HGH.

He claimed she had asked him to find out the cost of HGH. When he later told her it was $2,000, she allegedly replied: "If you want to make a million dollars, you've got to invest a couple of thousand."

It was at altitude and lasted for only 23 years.

Jürgen Schult – Discuss – 36 Years

Schult is a former German track and field athlete and the world record holder in the discus throw since 1986. He represented East Germany in the 1988 Olympics in the discus throw, where he won the gold medal.

Yuriy Sedykh – Hammer – 36 Years

Sedykh set the current hammer throw world record of 86.74 metres at the 1986 European championships in Stuttgart. Only Sedykh & Sergey Litvinov have thrown over 86 meters in the history of the sport (Ivan Tsikhan’s 86.73m throw in 2005 was annulled by the IAAF in April 2014 due to doping sanctions). His world record is the longest standing in men’s track and field history.

Nadal and Djokovic winning slams into their mid 30s. They aren't exactly playing a "win the point quickly" style either.

Those lads outlast their opponents in some matches, against fellas 10+ years their junior. Arguably both do better the longer a match goes on too ...

Flo jo still holds the record set in 1988 at -

10.49s, Florence Griffith-Joyner (USA), 16 July 1988 in Indianapolis (USA)

34 years on despite olympics after olympics and world champions after world championships no other women has even come close.

The current fastest woman Shelley Ann Fraser-pryce with all the modern shoes training etc ran her championship career best last night in Oregon - 10.67

Fraser-Pryce ran a championship record of 10.67 seconds to finish ahead of silver medallist Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson-Herah, who took bronze.
She also holds the 200m record, and died in her sleep at 36 years old.

Like I said above, I'd question everything because we know how widespread it is. However, I always assumed that players like Nadal & Djokovic tend to win easily in the early rounds so hav some energy left in reserve by the time they start playing 5 set matches whereas the slightly lesser players that they play in the later rounds have had to battle there way there so are knackered by the time they face Nadal & Djokovic. They are also better players and will be better at making their opponents do more running than they have to do themselves.

I'm sure I read that on the day of Griffith-joyner's 100m world record there were winds speeds of 4km/h for most other events on the day and yet it registered 0km/h for her race.

I struggle to watch much track and field with any faith these days. Whether it be US or Jamaican sprinters, the Eastern bloc athletes of the 70s & 80s or the current Kenyan & Ethiopian distance runners, it's easy to persuade yourself that they are all 'at it'.

I'm amazed how little is made of the huge numbers of Kenyan suspensions over the last few years.

But he’s not though that’s the point yes he’s better but the gap is a lot closer. As my table shows
?? It's the same. He's 0.11s faster than the 2nd best and Florence Griffith-Joyner is only 0.05 faster (0.11 faster than a recent one). Of the top 10 fastest Men's 100m times 8 of the top 10 have been banned for drugs. That puts Bolt 0.18s faster than the next legitimate fastest time. Proportionally that is a far bigger gap than the women's.

Kratochvílova never started training until she was 25, and took two years to break 53 seconds for the 400, and was 32 when she set world records.

Maybe just a late developer eh?
Maybe like Hulk Hogan - "say your prayers, take your vitamins and you will never go wrong"
What there's no doubt is that she was definitely under Czechoslovakias "Specialised Care Program" at the time.

What her and her trainers were really good at was not getting caught.

Btw speaking of drug records Ben jonsobs now infamous gold medal time also set in 1988 of 9.79 prob wouldn’t even make the podium in today Olympic final

Yet no one can get near flo jos

But bolt technology is on a par with today so he’s still currrent really where as Fraser-price etc are competing with 30 year old ghosts and not getting anywhere near.

Most competing now weren’t even born when she was running.

I’m singling out the 100 m as it’s really an even that you can’t use tactics to create time advantages in unlike 200 400 800 etc as it so short it’s all about 100% performance.

Power from the blocks is key.

You need to factor in the wind assist as well

Wasn't this part of the alleged reason Novak didn't want the Covid-19 vaccine, as it would react with his 'food supplements'?

I was listening to Danny Murphy on Talksport today and although initially talking about the Covid Jab he said he and most players he knew would literally do anything if it meant them playing. He said he wouldn't really question it , if the club doctor told him it was okay he would take it. I have always thought that with the rewards in football at the moment to think there are no drug cheats in the game is hard to imagine.
