Is there anyone on here who doesn't have left wing views

I think both our main parties are broadly interested in power for themselves though Labour leans more towards the people - however both campaigned AGAINST changing the First Past the Post voting system when the Lib' Dems managed to get a public vote on it in 2011 however the red & blue sheep followed their herders..

Labour - if they really are for the people - should make it part of their policy, it is far more important in the immediate future than many other policies & will have immediate impact on decision making & policy direction..

Single Transferable Vote would by my idea of democratic.

I find the electoral system outmoded, outdated and undemocratic.
So find it increasingly frustrating and and heartbreaking to know we’re locked into it.
Until someone offers PR, the Danish list system, the one I am familiar with would do, although would be willing to look at other formats. Anything but FPTP, which we share only with that beacon of democracy Belarus total shoite

If anyone voted to leave the EU they are also dragged out, sometimes called a thick racist gammon and all lumped with UKIP. Even though 62%? of who voted on Teesside voted to leave the EU. Many of those voting who don't at General Elections.

I get the impression the board is quite well educated and well educated football fans are often left of centre. They have come from working class backgrounds and actually see inequalities and poorer opportunities for working class young people, because they have mixed in different class backgrounds. They also see those in good positions in society are often no different to those who aren't, they are neither cleverer or work harder, but are possibly paid much more, because they present better and have the right contacts.

I don't vote because i refuse to give any of them my validation to abuse me - which they all do. Neither labour or conservative have any interest in serving the ordinary working man or woman - if they did you wouldn't be waiting months or years for a hospital appointment for example. They both promise everything and deliver nothing, politicians are nothing more than professional liars and I despise each and everyone of them.
Sadly we don't live in a perfect world, but if we did, it would because left leaning politicians brought in much more fairness.

What are "left wing views"?

For me, my countrymen and women have the right to:

* A decent home with a roof over their head - not dependent on how much money they have in their pocket.
* A good reliable cheap efficient publicly-owned public transport system across the country - especially in rural areas where existing private providers often neglect isolated communities.
* Decent inflation-indexed pay for Nurses, Teachers, Doctors and all workers across the public sector.
* Access for everyone to free NHS services at point of use, with Local Area Health Authorities planning and providing services, not private companies or care providers.
* A National Care Service for all those who need care and support in the community [in public ownership, not private ownership] - under control of the Local Area Health Authorities.
* A National Minimum Wage of £15 with the use of tax-credits and support for those in work on low incomes.
* Abolition of Zero-Hours Contracts, with temporary and "Bank" workers given the same rights as contracted workers, with paid maternity leave, holidays and sick leave.
* Public ownership of Railways, Postal Services, Electricity, Gas and Water: to allow proper co-ordination, planning, and investment: keeping the "profits" in the country for our people and keeping prices as low as possible.
*Increased social security for the long-term sick and disabled, with abolition of the current punitive "benefits" system.
* An immediate increase in pensions and social security set to the levels of 2010.
* Support for small businesses with a realistic rate support grant, set by local authorities, funded by central government.
* Provision of free child care across the country.
* Abolition of tuition fees.

"Left wing"?
Decent person.

Being "left" has effectively been weaponised in the same way that "woke" has... when you look at what woke means or being left wing means in general it is hard to argue with any of it yet people manage to do so.

God forbid we look after people, the workers and those that need support & endeavour to treat people fairly and equally.

Going really well this anti immigration lark, isn't it?

Also the argument that all politicians are the same and there is no difference in who you vote for is such lazy bollox, I roll my eyes when someone trots it out. It's exactly how poor politicians stay in power because so many people have that attitude. Lots of MP's are hard working and the ones that aren't are kept in place by exactly this attitude.

All politicians are complete whoppers. Political posts, political views and political arguments are a complete waste of time. Left or Right, it doesn’t matter.. left isn’t left, right isn’t right.

It’s us and them.. the sooner people catch on to that and truely understand that the better.

In a two party system this country is often run by a political party that does not represent the values of the majority it’s people. We have the same voting system as the USA where you can have in a two horse race the candidate with the fewest amount of votes becoming president!

Madness. Democracy would be a good start.. then maybe we can work on Justice and Truth, Equality.. and maybe one day even Peace.

In the mean time.. lick the toad, touch the snake, jump the shark, belt up, buckle down, fix up and fly straight. Don’t be be a Doyle, it might never happen or you might get run over by a bus.

Well that’s the how the tories get in again so that’s great…. The only way to beat this rotten festering corrupt cabal is either by tactically voting Lib Dem in their strong seats but otherwise voting labour.

I’m about as central as they come. Up until a few years ago I was probably leaning centre right but only a touch but our self serving government and dodgy deals for their mates since brexit and covid has very much pushed me more to the left. Probably sit someone along Colukas point of view now.

You've picked a pretty terrible example in hospital waiting times.

Look what they were under labour and what they are now after over a decade of the Tories.

In fact I don't think you've got much right to moan about it. You've stood by and let clearly the worst of the two on public services get into power with entirely predictable consequences.

My daughter is a civil servant in one of the main departments, obviously not going to mention which one, working in implementation. She said in her quite large section a whole lot of them are
“Total raving lefties”🤣
Before anyone asks. They just implement and make workable the policies of the current government has decided and passed down to them by the planning department.
No jazz politics…unfortunately.

We dont have anything like the same system as the us they use FPTP to elect a single candidate we have many many factors that influence voting in our parliamentary system so although we also us FPTP is not comparable at all

so it’s not the same at all.

All politicians should be held accountable for their promises and ultimate lies and deceit of the populous. Then again there would be no politicians.
