Isaiah Jones

I would love racism not to exist but I'm pretty sure it does
My point is black players aren’t a “novelty” (horrible phrase) anymore in the way they were back in the past, look at how many black players we as a club have had

so surely any racists have long since moved on ( you’d hope).

Opposing players are wary of Jones when he is attacking with the ball - in that respect he is like John Hendrie or Stuart Ripley. Jones is basically fast and can run well with the ball. If he could develop his left foot more he would be a Premier League player.

Jones is in my starting 11.

One of the most productive dribblers in the league by all accounts. Too many just expect absolute perfection, which simply doesn’t exist.

I think you're living in a dream utopia cause this is so naive.

I'm a huge fan of Jones, alright he might have had the odd off game of late but doesn't every player have off games?

He is a great player to have in the starting 11 and anyone who doesn't think that doesn't understand the game properly in my opinion.

I actually prefer him in the position he played last night as a flying wing back but anywhere in the team is good enough for me.

Regarding people moaning he doesn't take players on as often, a lot of that will come down to how he's been told to play and not just down to the player itself.

I look forward to seeing him up against Chelsea on Tuesday 👍

They will always be here I’m afraid, I mean look at this I took the other day from another so called boro forum. We will always have racists and bigots i am sad to say.

You have to read that right to the end.

It was a pretty shocking statement from a half wit.

I do hope. Racism, elitism, sectarianism are all social constructs that have to be actively dismissed by effort and thought. It's not surprising some people may never apply, or cannot apply that level of critical thought or have the emotional intelligence to do so.

Big fan of Jones.

On the subject of racial bias raised by roofie, I find it surprising it triggered so many folks. Whether it plays a part or not isn't really the point. The fact that people would rather not discuss the possibility is a problem though.
I’ll discuss any issue and it didn’t trigger anything but as others have said how does race explain the undue criticism the likes of fry McNair Engel and esp barlasser get and have got all season. .

As I’d say barlasser has been the harshest treated of all our players even now you see some still not giving him any credit.

Back on track, how would people feel if we brought in a new RW or Forss comes back and play Jones as a RB?

I feel that is where he can realise his potential.

I disagree I don’t think he wants to play there and replacing him in this way might sicken him off. He’ll do a job but I can’t see his future there.

RWB though is different.

I don’t think he’s good enough in the final third to hit the next level, he’s great defensively and he would still cause teams problems as a marauding right back.

I mean I could be way off but that’s just how I see it.

Wouldnt really suit the way we play I don’t think

Carrick likes us to be quite “lopsided” with an attacking left back and a more defensive right back who can tuck in to make a back 3.

Think it would just be an option in the last 20 mins if we’re chasing a game / struggling to break a team down

I think it could be changed, Engel was quite defensive yesterday and it worked, I think he could hold his own dropping in.

Jones has shown numerous times he can defend. That tackle when he was 1 v 2 at Sunderland was superb. Blocked the route for the pass then timed his run and tackle perfectly.

One thing he is very good at is nicking the ball back when he has seemingly been beaten. Unfortunately that is what led to his booking yesterday as he slightly mistimed it.
