I'm not taking the pi$$, I'm responding to your ridiculous post. This country (UK) is where he was born, brought up and has spent his working life. Not sure why you feel the need to take the pi$$ CtC.

Anything past Birmingham and you’re in France for meNorthern Ireland isn't abroad, it's an integral part of the UK.
The Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey and the overseas territories are British, but they're not part of the UK, so I think it's less of a stretch to say you're abroad, as it's not the same country.
But they're also not really foreign.
Once worked with a guy who was from near to where he is from in Ireland, and he told me he does a lot and donates a lot to charity, of which he doesn’t get any publicity.Regardless of whether I agree with him, I actually think he deserves a massive amount of respect for taking a principled stance (which is totally understandable based on his background) which he knows will be unpopular and has probably affected his career.
I'm sure that's the main factor but again, surely if it affected him that much he would have moved years ago.He probably chooses to stay because he is getting paid millions. Not sure it’s justifiable that grown adults would get so upset by what football shirt he chose to wear
I've never mentioned the poppy. Again, not sure why that is being brought up in response to anything I've said. Not wanting to wear a poppy
You mean purposely turning away from the English flag? Not facing the English flag during a national anthem is a bit rude
You don't say?Pro-IRA comments are out of order
Again, why do you think I'm wound up? It's you who seems quite agitated.Genuinely can’t believe the extent that some get wound up over him
Would you wear a symbol supporting the Argentinian or German army if they had killed members of your family?
But doesn’t abroad just literally mean over the sea? So even the Isle of Wight is technically.Northern Ireland isn't abroad, it's an integral part of the UK.

Have you ever seen a sportsman anywere in the world who would do such a thing?
You don't say?
Pro-IRA comments are despicable and have no place in society whether you're Irish or otherwise.
If he made pro-Al Qaeda comments would you just say they're 'out of order'?
And his actions are not spontaneous, he even went to the trouble of getting pro-IRA tattoos on his legs which he manages to show off regularly.
Regarding the Queen's death, I know there was a long running debate on here with some folk getting banned for standing their ground defending the monarchy and others steadfastly declaring their republicanism. Fair enough, that's how it is. In Wigan's next game the opposition all stood together around the centre circle linking arms. Ten of the Wigan team did exactly the same, apart from him who stood 2 feet away separated from his team-mates. So you've got 21 players of all cultures, faiths and nationalities respecting the death of the Queen. Then you've got James McClean.
So, he's thick. He's a hypocrite. He's a terrorist sympathiser. He's an attention seeker.
And he used to play for Sunderland.
Ah ok fair enough. Not the IOW then. So if you’re in Spain is going to Portugal “abroad”? Doesn’t sound right but by the definition above it def would be.Abroad means going to a foreign country, or beyond the bounds of your own country.
At least by the standard definitions.
With McLean his beliefs play a part when you consider where he is “from”, he sees himself as Irish not northern Irish which is abroad he chose to represent the Republic of Ireland not Northern Ireland.Abroad means going to a foreign country, or beyond the bounds of your own country.

That’s not true btwhe chose to represent the Republic of Ireland not Northern Ireland.
I never intended to. Your position is as entrenched as mine so you wouldn't listen anyway. So where's your evidence that he's anti-England?
You've produced none there.
I would disagree. Name any other Northern Irish person representing an English sports team who has been so disrespectful.A Northern Irish republican not standing at attention for the flag of England whilst God Save the Queen is being played is a natural reaction.
Who said anything about booing? In order to be facing in a different direction means you've made a conscious decision to turn away. And the bowing of the head was purely for him, not out of respect for a nation. None of his team-mates had their heads bowed but none of them turned away either which is the point I'm making. He didn't boo it, he faced in a different direction with his head bowed.
I'm sure they've got a controversial reputation in many places but that doesn't mean you should draw attention to yourself by obviously standing aside from your team-mates.Likewise with the remembrance for the Queen, he stood with his head bowed, despite the British crown having a very controversial reputation where he grew up.
That’s not James McClean?View attachment 49951
He was more than happy to play for their u 21.
It is true he was called up by Northern Ireland’s senior squad but then withdrew and pledged his allegiance to the republic instead. That’s not true btw
It is Brian McClean, from 2009
