Jason Steele

Hats of to him for taking his chance like Chuba has really. It's a funny old game football look at Jones this time last year was one of the biggest young talents in the league now can't make the bench

He was always good with his feet. His kicking was never an issue it was more his command of the box. Football is changing and maybe he's still young enough to make a bit more of a career than it looked like he was.

This kind of play is what Carrick is wanting from a keeper, and is getting from Steffen. I presume the scouts are working overdrive on finding a replacement keeper with 'passing under pressure' as the number one attribute.

When he was a 12 year old kid playing around Aycliffe Village with mates he always looked very quick with his feet , clearly a footballer as well as a decent keeper

Would be interesting to know his career total 'assists' and how it compares with all the other Boro rejects.

with a keeper role changing in this way I guess their peak age will reduce. I was thinking how he had a long way to go before hitting his prime but maybe not.
Funny how people generally don't let you down when they get given the chance...

Getting from Steffan, ha ha.

Yes. Did you watch the Burnley game and the amount of short passes under pressure were attempted? The article states that De Zerbi wants to play a style of football in which the keeper and defence are involved in "passing out from the back and provoking the opposition press by drawing them in." This is the same as what Steffen and players in our own half do.

Well if we had only known hey!!
He was incredibly consistent for us in a bit of a drab period for the club - just clearly wasn’t Karanka’s cup of tea. Glad to see him doing well.

I don't think I could place him in the top 20 of former Boro keepers. He's certainly no Jimmy Stewart or Alan Rough.
But all credit to the lad for carving out a career in the top flight.
