Joe Lumley Shirt Sponsorship

We haven't brought too much good luck to the players that we have sponsored. Lewis Wing left the club, originally loaned half way through our sponsor season. His replacement Darnel Fisher was great initially but subsequently was seriously injured (we wish him a full and speedy recovery) and then of course Joe Lumley who is now elsewhere in the League..

Anyway, I have just been given a signed Boro shirt from last season's team and a signed, Joe Lumley shirt in a presentation frame.
Wondering whether we should we do the same as last time, raffle the signed shirt between those that contributed and run a charity blind card for the Joe Lumley top?
We raised a nice sum for the Foundation for the Lewis Wing shirt. The frame is so heavy and the glass makes it so fragile that it has to be collected, not posted.

Good luck

Rather than make a smartypants comment, I'll say yes, do that. And if people really don't contribute to the charity card thing, then let the Foundation have it - I'm sure they can make some money out of it.

Am up for sponsoring a player again this year. Touch of sympathy for Joe Lumley, as he seemed a genuinely nice lad. Imagine the horror show at Rotherham could be his last appearance for Reading, if not his career. I will go in a raffle for a good cause, maybe put the two items together so as not to heap further humiliation on poor Joe?

This was a press release I knocked up at the end of last season for the blind card raffle of the Lewis Wing Shirt - I published this in the latest issue of the fanzine v WBA.

Alex Kitching was the winner of a unique piece of memorabilia when his £3 blind card selection landed him a signed, framed shirt of former Boro player Lewis Wing.

The blind card raffle organised by David Mohan and Boro fans from Fly Me To The Moon fanzine online message board raised £180 for MFC Foundation. Hopefully more raffles will follow for the Boro charity.

The framed signed shirt had been presented to a group of Boro fans from Fly Me To The Moon message board after they sponsored the former midfielder in the lockdown season 2020-2021. A group of 35 Boro fans that are part of the fmttm online Boro community were keen to put something back into the Boro at a time when they could not actually attend games themselves. They then decided rather than keep their memorabilia for themselves that they would rather it was auctioned for the Boro's own charity, MFC Foundation.
The sponsorship was organised online by USA based fan buffaloboro. It quickly amassed the funds from 35 fans keen to sponsor the player. The blind card raffle was organised by experienced charity fundraiser David Mohan with 60 people, Boro fans at home and overseas, paying £3 and keen to win the Middlesbrough memorabilia and support MFC Foundation. The price of just £3 blind card meant it was affordable to all fans and not surprisingly the £3 tickets were snapped up in less than 24 hours.
The winner was Alex Kitching from Billingham, delighted at his first ever Boro auction win. The other winner is MFC Foundation.

Could this be accompanied by a signed shirt from this season? Signed by all of the players?Add a bit more interest and make it worthwhile?

It’s only a laugh Capy. The lad had a nightmare here and it’s continuing at Reading. The thread was only going 1 way
I know it's only a laugh but Rob's got two shirts on his hands, one in a big case, and he's looking for suggestions as to how to dispose of them. Given how long it took him last year, I thought it better to try and be helpful.
