Well @spanishman - this was all news to me !
I've got a place in the Murcia province, lovely area and great beaches but like you say very dry in the summer and it does get windy. In the recent years we have had a lot of rain which also brings lots of red dust which is a b***r to clean off the car and house. The trains will come down the east coast of Spain. Then along the south coast from Murcia. That is also a nice province to visit.
Also, this corner of Spain is the driest part. So good for winter breaks. However, watch out as the bad weather here tends to be windy weather. Good for windsurfers.
Agree with you about La Manga. Went there for golf and nothing else.We go to La Manga a bit, it's nice but couldnt live in La Manga.
Yes the dust is called calima from the Sahara I believe.
We have been in Spain 7 years now and love it, hopefully I'll get to retire over there in the next 10 years.
Never been to Almeria but it looks beautiful, will have to put it on the list of places to visit.
If you think you had it bad, you should have been in Malaga !we have had a lot of rain which also brings lots of red dust which is a b***r to clean off the car and house.
