The bids are real according to the Gazette they are quoting a director of Groningen - the last one was 9m Euros, as a package, so I guess that means add ons included. There is quite a risk he can step up as we found out with Alves.

That's high enough for me (Bologna dropped out of bidding quite a while ago) - its about going through his agent now and showing him what our potential is - 25% chance of Premier League, in the Championship playing for a big club in that league. No disrespect to Groningen - we are a step up and I will be shocked if we can't offer him a bit more. If he convinced, he asks for a transfer. Other clubs do it to us.

The fact they have publically stated they have offered him a payrise, means that he and his agent didn't say yes when the offer was made. He won't start the season at that club.

Could well be that Larson is one of the ones that Wilder was alluding to, that he was here at Rockliffe, and wanted to sign, but maybe now Groningen are raising the fee after all was agreed. I suspect his agent will let Groningen know, it's over his client is leaving and Boro is his preferred destination.

If we are genuinely looking at paying 9-11mil for him I'd prefer it on Armstrong. They paid 10mil? I imagine money back would swing it.

Although wages would be an issue and he's well contracted so why take a pay drop.

Whilst I don't know Wilders thinking... I've seen nothing to suggest a 6ft 4" CF would be high on his list. That's going by him at Sheff UTD as well.

Oh and we think we are a forwards graveyard. I just read that Chelsea have spent 417mil on 5 forwards. None of them have scored more than 8 leagues in a season. Not just us

Thought it was more like £16m? Out of our price range (particularly when you take wages, length of remaining contract etc into account) I think.
